An Approach to the Posterior Interosseous Nerve

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1984
An exposure of the posterior interosseous nerve has been described. We feel this exposure is simple, anatomic, and atraumatic and yet provides excellent visualization of the posterior interosseous nerve. In addition, proximal and distal exposure of the nerve is easily obtained.

Arborization of the distal posterior interosseous nerve

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1995
The distal posterior interosseous nerve was dissected in 41 cadaveric specimens. Intraarticular branches were tagged with radioopaque markers and verified by fluoroscopy. The nerve averaged 1.3 mm in diameter and was located on the radial side of the fourth dorsal compartment encased in thickened fascia.

Management of Atraumatic Posterior Interosseous Nerve Palsy

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2017
The posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) is susceptible to a number of traumatic and atraumatic pathologies. In this article, we aim to review our current understanding of the etiology, pathology, diagnosis, treatment options, and published outcomes of atraumatic PIN palsy.

Simultaneous posterior and anterior interosseous nerve syndromes

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1982
A patient with simultaneous posterior and anterior interosseous nerve syndromes is presented. During induction of anesthesia, the paralyzed muscles exhibited denervation sensitivity to succinylcholine. Following exploration and repair of a posterior interosseous nerve defect, full function returned in the dorsal muscles as well as the flexor pollicis ...

[Posterior interosseous nerve palsy].

Revue de chirurgie orthopedique et reparatrice de l'appareil moteur, 2003
We report a case of radial palsy of the Frohse arcade type with complete motor deficit due to compression of the posterior interosseous nerve by a fibrous bands in the radial tunnel proximal to the arcade. Simple neurolysis of the posterior interosseous nerve with section of the compressing fibrous bands allowed complete recovery of the motor deficit ...

Distal posterior interosseous nerve syndrome.

Handchirurgie, Mikrochirurgie, plastische Chirurgie : Organ der Deutschsprachigen Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Handchirurgie : Organ der Deutschsprachigen Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Mikrochirurgie der Peripheren Nerven und Gefasse : Organ der V..., 1997
Five patients presenting with chronic dorsal wrist pain and diagnosed as distal posterior interosseous nerve syndrome are reported. Clinical examination revealed point tenderness of the fourth extensor compartment. The symptoms were reproduced by extreme wrist extension in all patients and by extreme flexion in three of the patients.
