Post partum pelvic floor changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Pelvic-perineal dysfunctions, are the most common diseases in women after pregnancy. Urinary incontinence and genital prolapsy, often associated, are the most important consequences of childbirth and are determined by specific alterations in the ...

Transperineal Ultrasound in Chronic Pelvic Pain: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract illustrating the systematic review process and highlighting key pelvic floor musculature (PFM) alterations detected by transperineal ultrasound (TPU) in patients with chronic pelvic pain (CPP) and associated conditions. These findings provide insights to enhance understanding and management of CPP.

MRI Proton Density Fat Fraction as a Biomarker of Marrow Recovery Following Organ‐Sparing Total Marrow Irradiation in Sickle Cell Disease

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Noninvasive quantitative assessment of marrow recovery after curative therapies such as total marrow irradiation (TMI) and bone marrow transplantation (BMT) remain poorly defined, particularly in sickle cell disease (SCD). Purpose To evaluate MRI‐derived proton density fat fraction (PDFF) as a biomarker of marrow recovery following ...

Concurrent Learning Approach for Estimation of Pelvic Tilt from Anterior–Posterior Radiograph

open access: yesBioengineering
Accurate and reliable estimation of the pelvic tilt is one of the essential pre-planning factors for total hip arthroplasty to prevent common post-operative complications such as implant impingement and dislocation.

Measurements of Liver and Bone Marrow Proton Density Fat Fraction in the Setting of Ferumoxytol‐Enhanced MRI

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Proton density fat fraction (PDFF) is typically measured using confounder‐corrected, multi‐echo, gradient‐recalled‐echo chemical‐shift‐encoded (CSE)‐MRI. Ferumoxytol, an iron‐based MRI contrast agent, increases liver and bone marrow (BM) R2*, a major confounder of PDFF.

Comparison of Six‐ and Three‐Dimensional Error Corrections for the Planning Target Volume in Patients With Nasopharyngeal Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
6D correction for CBCT achieves better dose coverage of target tumour volume than 3D correction in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. 6D correction significantly improved the dose coverage of PTV‐low at 5 weeks after treatment as compared to 3D correction.

Technique considerations for implementing volumetric‐modulated arc therapy for total body irradiation within an Australian tertiary institution

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, Volume 72, Issue 1, Page 165-172, March 2025.
In 2020, our institution transitioned to the Eclipse™ treatment planning system and to Truebeam® linear accelerators with 6 MV and 10 MV energies. The linear accelerators were installed in smaller bunkers that could not accommodate 400 cm FAD. A multidisciplinary team within the institution was created to evaluate existing total body irradiation ...

Impact of hamstring versus quadriceps tendon graft on thigh muscle strength and surface electromyography activity after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To compare quadriceps tendon (QT) and hamstring tendon (HT) autografts regarding isometric thigh muscle strength, surface electromyography (sEMG) activity and clinical outcomes following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).

Progressive lateral femoral condyle lengthening in total knee arthroplasty produces dose‐dependent increases in patellofemoral joint loading and alters patellar tracking

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To examine the biomechanical effects of progressive lateral femoral condyle lengthening on patellofemoral joint (PFJ) kinematics and kinetics following total knee arthroplasty (TKA), and to determine whether lateral condyle distalisation produces measurable, dose‐dependent alterations in PFJ loading and patellar tracking. Methods Eight
