Evaluation of the accuracy of a patient-specific instrumentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Patient-specific instruments (PSI) has been introduced with the aim to reduce the overall costs of the implants, minimizing the size and number of instruments required, and also reducing surgery time.

Effect of posteriorly inclined sagittal osteotomy on posterior tibial slope in biplanar medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy: a case series study

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders
Background Medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy aims to correct coronal plane deformities and redistribute the load in varus-aligned knees. However, changes in the sagittal plane during medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy can influence the ...

Open-Wedge Valgus High Tibial Osteotomy Technique With Inverted L-Shaped Configuration

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2017
High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a useful alternative in the treatment of symptomatic varus malalignment. However, among its drawbacks is the tendency to decrease patellar height and increase the posterior tibial slope. The increased tibial slope increases

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Inspired Microneedle Platform for NIR‐responsive Immunomodulation and Accelerated Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The research demonstrates a Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐inspired microneedle platform (MSCi@MN) that addresses chronic diabetic wounds by combining MSC‐derived extracellular nanovesicles (NV)–DNA conjugates in microneedle tips with photothermal MXene in the patch layer.

Entwicklung des tibialen Slopes bis zur Skelettreife und seine Beziehung zum hinteren femoralen sowie tibialen Offset [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Introduction: The posterior tibial slope has gained importance in the field of reconstructive knee surgery over the past few years because of its prognostic influence on the outcome of cruciate ligament surgery.

Lattice Structures for Bone Replacement: The Intersection of Bone Biomechanics, Lattice Design, and Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review outlines how understanding bone's biology, hierarchical architecture, and mechanical anisotropy informs the design of lattice structures that replicate bone morphology and mechanical behavior. Additive manufacturing enables the fabrication of orthopedic implants that incorporate such structures using a range of engineering materials ...

Steeper lateral posterior tibial slope and greater lateral‐medial slope asymmetry correlate with greater preoperative pivot‐shift in anterior cruciate ligament injury

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, 2022
Purpose To investigate the association between posterior tibial slope (PTS) and preoperative pivot‐shift phenomenon in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)‐injured knees.

Patellar tracking in primary total knee arthroplasty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This is a review of the recent literature of the various factors that affect patellar tracking following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Patellar tracking principally depends on the pre-existing patellar tracking and the rotational alignment of the ...

ROS Activated NETosis of Bone Marrow CD55+ Intermediate Mature Neutrophils Through HIF1α‐PADI4 Pathway to Initiate Bone Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we find CD55+ neutrophils show activated NETosis within bone marrow, induce BMSC senescence and osteogenesis inhibition, finally leading to bone aging initiation. Mechanistically, ROS synergizes with the CD55‐driven HIF1α‐PADI4 pathway to promote NETosis.
