A Risk Manager for Intrusion Tolerant Systems: Enhancing HAL 9000 With New Scoring and Data Sources

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Intrusion Tolerant Systems (ITS) aim to maintain system security despite adversarial presence by limiting the impact of successful attacks. Current ITS risk managers rely heavily on public databases like NVD and Exploit DB, which suffer from long delays in vulnerability evaluation, reducing system responsiveness. Objective This work

The BioColour Library

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract The attraction of adopting natural and bio‐based colourants in applications has grown, but their use suffers from a lack of certification bodies, standards and reference data. In the BioColour project, we are developing an open database and tools for the characterisation, authentication and quality analysis of biocolourant sources ...

Reasons to be fearful? Rising proportions of positive faecal worm egg counts among UK horses (2007–2023)

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Anthelmintic resistance (AR) threatens effective equine parasite control. Quarterly data summaries from faecal worm egg count testing (FWECT) performed by UK laboratories have appeared in Equine Quarterly Disease Surveillance Reports (EQDSR) since 2007, but have not previously been assessed.

From Data Deficient to Big Data in Shark Conservation

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Citizen science is increasingly harnessed worldwide to gather data otherwise requiring a prohibitive investment of funding and time. Meanwhile, the revolution in digital communication offers opportunities from crowdsourcing, big data approaches and social network mining to quickly and cost‐effectively fill major gaps in knowledge necessary to ...

Semi‐Automated Detection of Right Whales (Eubalaena spp.) in Very High‐Resolution Satellite Imagery

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Space‐based detection of whales is proliferating because it shows promise as a monitoring tool, yet tests of its application across taxa and environments are rare. The objective of this study was to develop an end‐to‐end, semi‐automated procedure for detecting two right whale species (Eubalaena glacialis and E. australis) in satellite imagery.

Affordable phenomics: Expanding access to enhancing genetic gain in plant breeding

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 8, Issue 1, December 2025.
Abstract Plant breeders need to evaluate large breeding populations rapidly and accurately to identify and assess genetic variation responsible for many traits, including yield, quality, resistance, and climate resilience. Although advanced molecular tools, including marker‐assisted selection, genomic selection, and gene editing, are being used to ...

PlasmoDocking: A User‐Friendly Open‐Source Web Tool for Virtual Screening Targeting Plasmodium falciparum Enzymes

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 46, Issue 23, September 5, 2025.
We present Plasmodocking, a web platform that automates the molecular docking process using Autodock GPU for multi‐targeting Virtual Screening (N × N). Simply provide up to 10 candidate inhibitor molecules in .sdf format, and the software will execute docking against 38 prepared and validated target enzymes from Plasmodium falciparum.

CyberESP: An Integrated Cybersecurity Framework for SMEs

open access: yesJournal of Software: Evolution and Process, Volume 37, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Cybersecurity is a critical global concern, particularly for small‐ and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) with limited resources and expertise. The authors are developing CyberESP, a tailored cybersecurity framework supported by a semi‐automated tool to ensure Spanish SMEs' cybersecurity management.

A Hiplot‐based web service for cold atmospheric plasma high‐throughput data integration and analysis on breast cancer

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 4, Issue 4, August 2025.
Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) represents an emerging onco‐therapeutics that can specifically ablate cancer cells without harming their healthy peers via redox perturbation. CAP medicine in breast cancer (CAPmed‐BC) is the first reservoir of multi‐level omics data including whole transcriptome, acetylome, lactylome, proteome, phosphorylome that records ...
