Postmenopausal Pruritus Vulvae

Summary The theory is advanced that most cases of postmenopausal pruritus vulvae are basically due to a local atrophy of the skin. This permits an invasion and infection of the derma by the usual pathogenic skin organisms, which are always present in that region.
