Acute Cholecystitis in the Postoperative Period
New England Journal of Medicine, 1963TRANSIENT fever, pain, ileus and general discomfort are so common after any surgical procedure that development of a new surgical emergency is often masked by these almost routine sequelae. HAZARDS OF THE IMMEDIATE POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1957The surgical patient's welfare may be threatened by situations that develop in the interval between the termination of the operation and his arrival in the recovery room. It is essential that his condition be watched closely while his position is changed, the level of anesthesia is reduced, and the endotracheal tube is removed.

Seizures during the Immediate Postoperative Period

The lesion had been located extra-axially in 15 patients and intra-axially in 8 patients. Except for 1 patient who had a parietal craniotomy for an arteriovenous malformation, all patients had a frontal or temporal exposure.

Clinical Pharmacokinetics, 1979Marked changes in physiological function and in the metabolism of endogenous substances take place after trauma and operation, and these may influence the pharmacokinetics of drugs. Increased secretion of hormones, such as hydrocortisone and glucagon occurs. The liver blood flow increases, whereas gastrointestinal motility decreases.

Temperature Problems in the Postoperative Period
Critical Care Nursing Clinics of North America, 1990Postoperative patients have difficulty maintaining thermal balance for several reasons.
