Variation and development of the turtle chondrocranium, with a description of the common musk turtle (Sternotherus odoratus, Kinosternidae, Cryptodira, Testudines)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Based on histological cross‐sections, the chondrocranium of the common musk turtle (Sternotherus odoratus) was reconstructed, described, and compared with other turtles. It differs from that of other turtle chondrocrania by possessing elongated, slightly dorsally orientated nasal capsules with three dorsolateral foramina, which might be ...

Smart safety watch for elderly people and pregnant women [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Falls represent one of the most detrimental occurrences for the elderly. Given the continually increasing ageing demographic, there is a pressing demand for advancing fall detection systems. The swift progress in sensor networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) has made human-computer interaction through sensor fusion an acknowledged and potent ...

Bilirubin Targeting WNK1 to Alleviate NLRP3‐Mediated Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
At physiological concentrations, bilirubin binds to the kinase domain of WNK1, thereby augmenting its activity and facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream SPAK/OSR1. This phosphorylation inhibits KCC2 activity, leading to elevate intracellular chloride levels in neurons.

Detection of the most influential variables for preventing postpartum urinary incontinence using machine learning techniques [PDF]

open access: yesDigital Health, Volume 8, 2022, 20552076221111289
Background: Postpartum urinary incontinence (PUI) is a common issue among postnatal women. Previous studies identified potential related variables, but lacked analysis on certain intrinsic and extrinsic patient variables during pregnancy. Objective: The study aims to evaluate the most influential variables in PUI using machine learning, focusing on ...

Maternal brain resting‐state connectivity in the postpartum period

open access: yesJournal of neuroendocrinology, 2019
In the postpartum period, the maternal brain experiences both structural and functional plasticity. Although we have a growing understanding of the responses of the human maternal brain to infant stimuli, little is known about the intrinsic connectivity ...

Polydopamine Nanohydrogel Decorated Adhesive and Responsive Hierarchical Microcarriers for Deafness Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A type of polydopamine (PDA) nanogel decorated adhesive and responsive hierarchical microcarriers for ALA delivery and deafness prevention. PDA@microcarriers can protect the encapsulated drugs from external disturbances and prolong their retention time in the inner ear.

RONIN/HCF1‐TFEB Axis Protects Against D‐Galactose‐Induced Cochlear Hair Cell Senescence Through Autophagy Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
D‐galactose (D‐gal) induced inner ear hair cell senescence by inhibiting TFEB transcription. RONIN/HCF1 promotes TFEB transcription to prevent cochlear HCs from D‐gal‐induced senescence through autophagy activation. Abstract Age‐related hearing loss is characterized by senescent inner ear hair cells (HCs) and reduced autophagy.
