Inferring genetic fitness from genomic data

open access: yes, 2020
The genetic composition of a naturally developing population is considered as due to mutation, selection, genetic drift and recombination. Selection is modeled as single-locus terms (additive fitness) and two-loci terms (pairwise epistatic fitness).

Nodal surface semimetals: Theory and material realization

open access: yes, 2018
We theoretically study the three-dimensional topological semimetals with nodal surfaces protected by crystalline symmetries. Different from the well-known nodal-point and nodal-line semimetals, in these materials, the conduction and valence bands cross ...

Colloidal quantum dots enabling coherent light sources for integrated silicon-nitride photonics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Integrated photoniccircuits, increasingly based on silicon (-nitride), are at the core of the next generation of low-cost, energy efficient optical devices ranging from on-chip interconnects to biosensors.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

An analog of Chang inversion formula for weighted Radon transforms in multidimensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this work we study weighted Radon transforms in multidimensions. We introduce an analog of Chang approximate inversion formula for such transforms and describe all weights for which this formula is exact.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

History of Catalan numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We give a brief history of Catalan numbers, from their first discovery in the 18th century to modern times. This note will appear as an appendix in Richard Stanley's forthcoming book on Catalan numbers.Comment: 10 ...

A Quillen adjunction between algebras and operads, Koszul duality, and the Lagrange inversion formula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We define, for a somewhat standard forgetful functor from nonsymmetric operads to weight graded associative algebras, two functorial "enveloping operad" functors, the right inverse and the left adjoint of the forgetful functor. Those functors turn out to

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

A Fast Frequency Sweep – Green’s Function Based Analysis of Substrate Integrated Waveguide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, a fast frequency sweep technique is applied to the analysis of Substrate Integrated Waveguides performed with a Green’s function technique.
