Thermal Hydraulic Analysis of Postulated Accidents in a HLM Cooled Fast Reactor

open access: yes
This thesis work, carried out at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile ed Industriale (DICI) of the University of Pisa, concerns the thermo-hydraulic analysis of postulated accidents in a HLM cooled fast reactor, i.e. the MYRRHA-FASTEF reactor. The first

Loss of hepatic SMLR1 causes hepatosteatosis and protects against atherosclerosis due to decreased hepatic VLDL secretion

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The role of SMLR1 in lipid metabolism (high fat + cholesterol diet in mice) Abstract Background and Aims The assembly and secretion of VLDL from the liver, a pathway that affects hepatic and plasma lipids, remains incompletely understood. We set out to identify players in the VLDL biogenesis pathway by identifying genes that are co‐expressed with the ...

Molecular Dioxygen‐Mediated Passivation of Electron Traps in n‐Type Organic Charge‐Transfer Complexes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
O2 enhances charge‐transfer in n‐type organic donor–acceptor charge‐transfer complexes (CTCs) via physisorption‐mediated trap passivation. By suppressing recombination and promoting long‐lived delocalized charge carriers, O2 improves electron transport and conductivity without doping.

Formation of uniform and monodisperse zincite crystals in the presence of soluble starch

open access: yes, 2002
A novel procedure for the formation of uniform, monodisperse, and single-phase zincite particles using soluble starch as crystallization additive is reported. At low starch concentrations, roughly spherical particles with a bimodal size distribution form.
