Perinatal Development of the Motor Systems Involved in Postural Control [PDF]
Motor behaviors of some species, such as the rat and the human baby, are quite immature at birth. Here we review recent data on some of the mechanisms underlying the postnatal maturation of posture in the rat, in particular the development of pathways descending from the brain stem and projecting onto the lumbar enlargement of the spinal cord.

Screening tests for body posture defects and abnormalities conducted over the past several decades have revealed a significant and constantly increasing problem of health risks in children. A sedentary lifestyle, which is considered to be the primary cause, can result in proprioceptive disorders leading to postural instability. The aim of the study was

Diagnostic posture control system for seated-style echocardiography robot
Abstract Purpose Conventional robotic ultrasound systems were utilized with patients in supine positions. Meanwhile, the limitation of the systems is that it is difficult to evacuate the patients in case of emergency (e.g., patient discomfort and system failure) because the patients are restricted between the robot ...

Wearable Postural Control System for Low Back Pain Therapy
[Abstract]: Treatment of low back pain usually includes exercise, analgesics, prostheses, and, in severe cases, surgery. Early treatments based on postural control are essential to prevent low back pain and mitigate permanent damage. We present a wearable device, with an estimated cost below U.S.

Effects of foot preference on postural control in soccer players
A soccer player often uses the dominant leg during activities and the non-dominant leg is used to support body weight. This may have different effects on the postural control between the dominant and non-dominant legs in soccer players.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.
