Trunk position sense, postural stability, and spine posture in fibromyalgia
Rheumatology International, 2019This study aimed to investigate trunk position sense, postural stability, and spine posture in women with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). Fifteen (15) women with FMS and age- and gender-matched fifteen (15) healthy controls were included. Trunk position sense as indicated by trunk reposition errors (TRE) and spine posture (thoracic and lumbar curvature ...

Positional stability in quietly standing dogs has been evaluated in terms of force records from individual feet and the position of the center of gravity. All four dogs carried approximately 60% of their total weight on their anterior feet and roughly 50% of their weight on each side.

Postural Stability in Shooters
ORL, 1990Ten competition shooters were tested during simulated race using the force platform technique to investigate the effect of training on postural stability. The shooters were tested at 30-min intervals during a race simulating actual race conditions. Sway velocity was calculated during 27-second periods.

Stabilizing Posture Through Imagery
International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, 2014Abstract In the general population, suppression of vision modulates body sway by increasing the center of pressure (CoP) velocity, while a light fingertip touch reduces the area of the CoP displacement in blindfolded subjects. This study assessed whether imagined fixation and fingertip touch differentially stabilize posture in subjects with high (highs)

On postural stability and variability
Gait & Posture, 1993Abstract The stability of posture is often assessed directly by the variability of certain centre of pressure parameters, such as length or area of the centre of pressure profiles. Increased variability of these parameters is usually taken as an index of decreased postural stability.

POSTURAL STABILITY AND COLLES' FRACTURE
Age and Ageing, 1987We have tested the hypothesis that the Colles' fracture is due, not simply to bone loss at the menopause, but to postural instability in a subset of postmenopausal women such that they are rendered more liable to fall. We have measured bone mass by dual photon spinal densitometry and single photon wrist densitometry and measured postural sway in 19 ...

Relationship between bow stability and postural control in recurve archery
European Journal of Sport Science, 2020Archery is a sport that requires fine movement control, and postural stability is considered an important variable to achieve high performance. In order to better understand the coupling between archer and bow during the aiming phase, the aim of this ...

The influence of propranolol on postural stability
Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 1984In a double-blind cross-over study, the influence of propranolol on postural stability was investigated in 7 normals. The postural stability was measured by a computer-assisted quantitative Romberg test. A dose of 10 mg propranolol administered intravenously resulted in an impaired postural stability, with a delay of about half an hour.
