Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

The ACCEPTance of automation: refining circulating tumor cells enumeration for improved metastatic colorectal cancer prognosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study highlights the potential of automated enumeration using the ACCEPT software to refine circulating tumor cell (CTC) detection in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The automated method demonstrates improved accuracy and reduced variability compared to the manual approach.

Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

The IFNγ‐CIITA‐MHC II axis modulates melanoma cell susceptibility to NK‐cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Natural killer (NK) cells play a central role in anti‐melanoma immunity. However, melanoma cells adapt during co‐culture by upregulating CIITA and MHC II in response to interferon gamma (IFNγ), thereby evading NK‐cell lysis. Blocking IFNγ signaling or treatment with dimethyl fumarate/simvastatin counteracts this immune escape and maintains NK‐cell ...

Neural, mechanical, and geometric factors subserving arm posture in humans

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 1985
When the hand is displaced from an equilibrium posture by an external disturbance, a force is generated to restore the original position. We developed a new experimental method to measure and represent the field of elastic forces associated with posture ...
