Analysis of postural perturbation responses

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, 2001
People with cerebellar ataxia lack lower limb coordination and dissipate sway motion slowly and inefficiently after a posture perturbation. We report a practical and low-cost "human resonance frequency test" for both laboratory and clinical use to quantify progress in balance and cerebellar rehabilitation.

Custom hardware architectures for posture analysis [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings. 2005 IEEE International Conference on Field-Programmable Technology, 2005., 2006
This paper describes the design and implementation of hardware architectures for posture analysis. Posture analysis is an active research area in computer vision for home care environments and security. We report four contributions in this paper: (a) requirements for a posture analysis system with hardware support; (b) a workflow for posture analysis ...

Parametric analysis of dynamic postural responses [PDF]

open access: yesBiological Cybernetics, 1984
A detailed theoretical understanding of postural control mechanisms must be preceded by careful quantification of both the deterministic and stochastic aspects of postural behavior of normal and abnormal subjects under various dynamic conditions. Toward this end, concise parametric transfer function plus noise models were derived for both shoulder and ...

Utilization of Postural Analysis Application Technology on Static Posture: Toward Postural Risk Assessment

open access: yesPhilippine Journal of Physical Therapy, 2022
Aim: To determine the instrument reliability of Postural Application Technology (PAAT) as an assessment tool of static posture. Method: There were sixty participants included in the study. The respondents were obtained using a non-probability convenience sampling technique, Slovin’s Formula was used to compute for the sample size.

Reliability of photographic posture analysis of adolescents

open access: yesJournal of Physical Therapy Science, 2015
[Purpose] Postural problems of adolescents needs to be evaluated accurately because they may lead to greater problems in the musculoskeletal system as they develop. Although photographic posture analysis has been frequently used, more simple and accessible methods are still needed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the inter- and intra-rater

Posture analysis during tooth extraction

open access: yesBDJ Open
Abstract Introduction Tooth extraction is one of the clinical internship requirements in Japan. Human posture during tooth extraction is important since poor posture can cause failure of the safe operation and musculoskeletal injuries.

Adaptive 2D Posture Analysis

open access: yes
Abstract Poor posture is a leading cause of musculoskeletal disorders and reduced biomechanical efficiency in various populations, including office workers, athletes, and individuals undergoing physiotherapy. This research presents an adaptive 2D posture correction system based on real-time human pose estimation and dynamic feedback mechanisms.

A Biomechanical Analysis System of Posture

Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare, 2014
The number of scenarios that may gain benefits from postural analysis performed with sustainable economic costs is virtually limitless. They range from clinical and outpatient studies to sport and dance practicing, from posture learning and replication for humanoid robots to body control techniques.

Postural stress analysis in industry

Applied Ergonomics, 1994
Both observational and instrumentation-based techniques have been used to conduct postural stress analysis in industry. As observational methods are more widespread than instrumentation-based techniques and can be used as a practical tool in the workplace, this study reviews and assesses the scientific literature on observational techniques. Techniques
