Euspermatozoon structure and euspermiogenesis in Cerithidea cingulata (Gmelin, 1791) (Caenogastropoda : Potamididae) [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2003
The ultrastructural characteristics of euspermatogenesis and mature euspermatozoa of Cerithidea cingulata are described. Euspermatogonia possesses a large round concentric nucleus with one or two nucleoli.

Facies distribution and depositional cycles in lacustrine and palustrine carbonates: The Lutetian–Aquitanian record in the Paris Basin

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 10, Issue 1, Page 124-158, February 2024.
In this work focussing on the Cenozoic continental carbonates of the Paris Basin, new information is brought to light on the spatialisation of continental carbonates facies thanks to correlations between coastal and palustrine environments. It presents arguments for distinguishing between marine (lagoon‐type) and continental (lake‐type) deposits based ...

The fossil record of freshwater Gastropoda – a global review

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 99, Issue 1, Page 177-199, February 2024.
ABSTRACT Gastropoda are an exceptionally successful group with a rich and diverse fossil record. They have conquered land and freshwater habitats multiple times independently and have dispersed across the entire globe. Since they are important constituents of fossil assemblages, they are often used for palaeoecological reconstruction, biostratigraphic ...

Detection of intact polyene pigments in Miocene gastropod shells

open access: yesPalaeontology, Volume 67, Issue 1, January/February 2024.
Abstract Polyene pigments represent a major class of pigments in present‐day organisms. Their occurrence in fossils has been frequently discussed, but to date no spectroscopic evidence has been found. Here, we use in situ Raman spectroscopy to examine the chemistry of exceptionally well‐preserved gastropod shells with colour preservation from the ...

Influence of joint application of heavy metals on level of each metal accumulated in the periwinkle Tympanotonus fuscatus (Gastropoda: Potamididae)

open access: yesRevista de Biología Tropical, 2006
Most laboratory assessments of toxicity and bioaccumulation of heavy metals have been concentrated on the accumulation of these metal ions when exposed singly to the test organisms.
