Impact of potash mining in streams: the Llobregat basin (northeast Spain) as a case study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Limnology, 2016
Potash mining is significantly increasing the salt concentration of rivers and streams due to lixiviates coming from the mine tailings. In the present study, we have focused on the middle Llobregat basin (northeast Spain), where an important potash ...

Stock market response to potash mine disasters [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Commodity Markets, 2017
We examine the stock market reaction to natural and man-made disasters in potash mines. We use a sample of 44 mining accidents worldwide over the period 1995-2016. A quarter of the accidents were the result of a natural disaster, such as flooding, that often ended in the closure of the potash mine.

On flood protection measures for potash mines

open access: yesJournal of Mining Institute, 2019
Development of water-soluble ore deposits is associated with the necessity to preserve water blocking strata (WBS), which separate aquifers from the mine gob. One indicator of the rate of man-induced load on WBS layers is subsidence of the earth surface, which defines the character of shift trough formation of the earth surface.
