Recent Advances in Electrolytes for Potassium‐Ion Batteries

Advanced Functional Materials, 2022
AbstractPotassium‐ion batteries (KIBs) are considered as the potential energy storage devices due to the abundant reserves and low cost of potassium. In the past decade, research on KIBs has generally focused on electrode materials. However, since electrolytes also play a key role in determining the cell performance, this review summarizes recent ...

CuO Nanoplates for High‐Performance Potassium‐Ion Batteries

Small, 2019
AbstractPotassium‐ion batteries (KIBs) are promising alternatives to lithium‐ion batteries because of the abundance and low cost of K. However, an important challenge faced by KIBs is the search for high‐capacity materials that can hold large‐diameter K ions.

Better aqueous potassium-ion batteries

C&EN Global Enterprise, 2019
Rechargeable batteries that feature an aqueous, potassium-based electrolyte have been sitting on battery designers’ drawing boards for years. Compared with popular lithium-ion batteries, which depend on an electrolyte solution of expensive lithium salts in flammable organic solvents, aqueous potassium-ion batteries (AKIBs) could offer advantages in ...

K2Ti6O13 nanorods for potassium-ion battery anodes

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2019
Abstract In this work, K2Ti6O13 nanorods have been synthesized and evaluated as potassium-ion battery anode material. A reversible capacity of 95.7 mAh g−1 at 0.01 A g−1 is obtained by this K2Ti6O13 nanorods electrode, and its robust structure survives after long cycling.

Potassium Alloy Reference Electrodes for Potassium-Ion Batteries

ECS Meeting Abstracts
Potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) represent a promising complementary technology to lithium-ion batteries due to the availability and low cost of potassium. KIBs could also be produced with graphite anodes and Prussian blue analogue (PBA) cathodes, reducing the demand for rare, costly elements necessary in LIBs.1 However, accurate characterization of ...
