Durable Proton Exchange Membrane Based on Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity for Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel composite proton exchange membrane (PEM) design that leverages carboxylic acid‐functionalized polymers of intrinsic microporosity (cPIM‐1) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). Harnessing Lewis acid‐base interactions enables the development of a synergistic microporous structure that confines phosphoric acid clusters, enhancing proton conductivity ...

High‐Performance Electrocatalysts of Potassium Lactate Oxidation for Hydrogen and Solid Potassium Acetate Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Potassium lactate, produced from polylactic acid plastic waste, is oxidized to potassium acetate on an anode using Ni(Co)OOH as the electrocatalyst, while hydrogen is simultaneously generated at the cathode, through a highly efficient industrial‐scale electrolysis system.

Traversing the Periodic Table through Phase‐Separating Nanoreactors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Centimeter‐scale arrays of single nanoparticles, generated through either Dip Pen Nanolithography or Polymer Pen Lithography, allow for the discovery of novel nanomaterials at an unprecedented scale. The development of phase‐separating hydrophobic nanoreactors bypasses element‐specific chemistry limitations, enabling the synthesis of polyelemental ...
