Electroless Plating of Copper on Laser‐Induced Graphene for Flexible Hybrid Electronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Copper‐plated Laser‐Induced Graphene (Cu‐LIG) provides a facile and economical approach to patterning FHEs. This patterning process is enabled by incorporating catalytically active palladium nanoparticles into the LIG structure, which serve as surface reaction sites for reducing copper ions in solution plating.

Polarization‐Dependent Color Modulation in Electrodeposited Cellulose Nanocrystals and Birefringent Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that wavelength selective reflection of circularly polarized light (CPL) of both handedness (right‐R or left‐L) can be achieved from self‐assembled cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), breaking the inherent limitation of obtaining only L‐CPL reflection.

High Fidelity Waveguides Through Vitreous Media Recomposition for Next Generation Photonic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A newly designed aluminosilicate glass enables the fabrication of femtosecond laser‐written optical waveguides with ultra‐low propagation losses of −0.020 dB cm−1 at 1310 nm and −0.037 dB cm−1 at 1550 nm. Raman, Brillouin, and electron microscopy analyses reveal the mechanisms behind refractive index modifications, highlighting the role of glass ...

Chiral Sensing of Amino Acids under Visible Light via Hydroxypropyl Cellulose Gels

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Hydroxypropyl cellulose gels enable visible‐light‐based chiral detection of amino acid enantiomers. This study showcases their structural color properties for distinguishing phenylalanine and alanine enantiomers. The gels exhibit pH‐responsive color changes, high sensitivity at low concentrations (0.2 wt.%), and long‐term stability, offering ...

Self‐Assembling Cracks to Fabricate Antireflective Antifogging Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional optical device combining antireflective and photothermal antifogging properties is developed by leveraging crack formation in colloidal films. Plasmonic nanoparticle arrays enable localized heating under illumination, while a mesoporous silica coating provides antireflection and water repellency.
