An 15N study of the effects of nitrate, ammonium, and nitrate + ammonium nutrition on nitrogen assimilation in Zea Mays L. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Bibliography: leaves 113-134.A brief review of the literature on the effects of nitrate and ammonium nitrogen sources on plant growth, and the assimilation of those nitrogen sources, has been presented.

Coordinated Transport of Nitrate, Potassium, and Sodium [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Potassium (K+) and nitrogen (N) are essential nutrients, and their absorption and distribution within the plant must be coordinated for optimal growth and development. Potassium is involved in charge balance of inorganic and organic anions and macromolecules, control of membrane electrical potential, pH homeostasis and the regulation of cell osmotic ...

Effects of Different Types of Potassium Fertilizers on Nutrient Uptake by Grapevine

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2023
Potassium (K) is the most important element for fruit quality improvement. This study aimed at determining the best K fertilizer type that can promote grape growth and nutrient uptake.

Synthesis of zeolites and their application as soil amendments to increase crop yield and potentially act as controlled release fertilizers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A Thesis Submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements of the University of Wolverhampton for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.Zeolites have been used in agriculture since the 1960s, due to the effectiveness of these crystalline microporous ...

Structure and function of nitrate and nitrite transporters, NrtA and NitA, from Aspergillus nidulans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Membrane proteins play an integral role in the control of ion transport across the cell membrane in biological systems. However, due to experimental constraints, structural and functional data available for these proteins is limited, especially ...

Evidence that synergism between potassium and nitrate enhances the alleviation of ammonium toxicity in rice seedling roots.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Ammonium toxicity in plants is considered a global phenomenon, but the primary mechanisms remain poorly characterized. Here, we show that although the addition of potassium or nitrate partially alleviated the inhibition of rice seedling root growth ...

Response of Yield and Quality of Garlic to Nitrogen Sources and Foliar Spray with Sulfur Treatments [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Production, 2016
Two experiments were carried out during 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons, at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt, to study the effect of nitrogen forms (ammonium nitrate and urea) and sulfur treatments (0,

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.
