FMRFamide-related peptides in potato cyst nematodes

Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, 2001
This study presents data demonstrating the presence of FMRFamide-related peptides (FaRPs) in potato cyst nematodes (PCN). Five transcripts of FaRP encoding genes, designated gpflp-1 to gpflp-5, were characterised using RACE. In terms of ORFs, gpflp-1 was 444 base pairs (bp) long and coded for four copies of the FaRP, PF3 (KSAYMRFamide) whilst gpflp-2 ...

Linkage Mapping in Potato Cyst Nematodes

1994
A Mendelian proof for a gene-for-gene relationship between virulence in Globodera rostochiensis and the H1 resistance gene from Solanum tuberosum spp. andigena CPC 1673 was obtained by Janssen et al., (1991). It was shown that virulence to the H1 gene is recessively inherited at a single locus.

Effects of Potato Cyst-Nematodes On Potato Plants

Nematologica, 1975
Observations of potato plant growth were made in plots containing a wide range of potato cyst-nematode populations following the use of resistant or susceptible varieties combined with fumigation treatments. Potato plants infested with many potato cyst-nematodes grew more slowly, were dwarfed, had smaller leaves and senesced earlier than plants with ...

Sensitivity of potato cyst nematodes to fluazaindolizine

Nematology, 2022
Summary Potato cyst nematodes (PCN), Globodera spp., cause damage to potatoes in more than 60 countries and several management strategies, including the application of chemical nematicides, are commonly used for their control. However, due to stringent regulations in Europe several nematicides have been, or are being, removed from the market due ...

Integrated Control of Potato Cyst Nematode

Outlook on Agriculture, 1987
The potato is one of the world's most important crops, as a source of both food and starch, and control of the various diseases to which it is susceptible is correspondingly important. Of these, infection with potato cyst nematode (eelworm) is one of the most serious and, because of its long persistence in the soil, one of the most difficult to combat.
