Prediction of Potential Suitable Habitats of Cupressus duclouxiana Under Climate Change Based on Biomod2 Ensemble Models

open access: yesBiology
Cupressus duclouxiana is an ecologically and economically important conifer endemic to southwestern China (e.g., central Yunnan and southern Sichuan), yet its potential distribution under future climate change remains insufficiently understood.

The canopy rainfall interception in actual and potential distribution of Qinghai spruce (Picea crassifolia) forest

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2013
Interception is one of the most underestimated processes in hydrological cycle in arid and semiarid regions. In Qilian Mountains of northwestern arid and semiarid China, the Qinghai spruce (Picea crassifolia) forest plays an important role in the ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Acceleration of Boundary-Element Computing Using Graphics Accelerator for the Elements with Nonlinear Form Functions

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2019
The implementation of a boundary element method (BEM) using three nonlinear form functions designed for determination of half-plane potential distribution was considered in the current paper.

Combining Niche Breadth to Predict the Current and Future Distribution of Leguminosae Under Climate Change on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
The Leguminosae family plays a significant role in life and serves as an important food crop. However, global warming poses a serious threat to the growth and potential distribution of Leguminosae species on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau.

Ensemble modelling reveals spiny monkey orange (Strychnos spinosa Lam.) as a vulnerable wild edible fruit tree in West Africa

open access: yesGeology, Ecology, and Landscapes
This study aimed at modelling the historical distribution and assessing the potential impacts of future climate on spiny monkey orange (Strychnos spinosa Lam.) population across West Africa using the Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSP 245 and SSP 585 ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Predicting the Implications of Climatic Alterations on the Distribution of Endangered Species: A Case Study of Saxifragaceae on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Understanding the potential impacts of climate change on species distribution is crucial for the conservation of threatened taxa. The Saxifragaceae family, known for its susceptibility to habitat disturbance, exhibits a diverse distribution across ...

Projecting the Potential Global Distribution of Sweetgum Inscriber, Acanthotomicus suncei (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) Concerning the Host Liquidambar styraciflua Under Climate Change Scenarios

open access: yesInsects
Acanthotomicus suncei is a newly discovered bark beetle in China that significantly threatens the American sweetgum Liquidambar styraciflua. In recent years, this pest has spread from its original habitat to many surrounding cities, causing substantial ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
