Electronic quantum confinement in cylindrical potential well

, 2016
The effects of quantum confinement on the momentum distribution of electrons confined within a cylindrical potential well have been analyzed. The motivation is to understand specific features of the momentum distribution of electrons when the electron ...

Potential well of charged-walls

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1982
The potential well of the charged-wall in a contiguous disk device has been measured directly by a dynamlc equilibrium method using high speed photography. By applying a bias field gradient perpendicular to the propagation track, a bubble in the potential well of an attracting charged-wall is pulled out of the edge of track.

Natural Potentials in Well Logging

Transactions of the AIME, 1944
Abstract The almost universal acceptance of electrical logging by the petroleum industrycalls for a critical examination of the physical bases of the common methods. This is particularly needed for the natural potential log.

Infinite systems of potential wells

Journal d'Analyse Mathématique, 1992
This article is a short presentation of the results obtained in the last twelve years in the semiclassical study of the tunneling effect for the Schrödinger operator. The emphasis is on results where near a given energy the energy surface has an infinite number of connected components. The author presents recent results obtained by \textit{U. Carlsson}

The Asymmetric Double-Well Potential

2001
Whereas in Part I the nonlinearity f in the Canomical Equation $$u^{iv} + qu'' + f(u) = 0$$ (1.0.1) ] was odd and its primitive F an even double-well potential, in this chapter we shall discuss the set B of bounded solutions when F is still a double-well potential but no longer even. For the sake of transparency, we focus on the one-parameter

On a problem of potential wells

1995
This paper gives a result for the existence of a minimizer for an energy functional of the kind \(\int_\Omega g(\nabla u(x))dx\), where \(g\) is nonnegative and is zero only on potential wells described by rotations of finitely many matrices \(A_1,\dots,A_r\). The problem of finding a minimizer is than equivalent to solving the differential inclusion \[

The Case of Potential Wells

1999
The problem of potential wells can be described as follows. Consider the minimization problem $$ (P)inf\left\{ {\int_\Omega {f(Du(x))dx:u \in \varphi + W_0^{1,p}(\Omega ;{\mathbb{R}^n})} } \right\}, $$ , Where \( \Omega \subset {\mathbb{R}^n} \) is a bounded open set \( \varphi \in {W^{1,p}}\left( {\Omega ;{\mathbb{R}^n}} \right) \) is a given ...

Energy Quantisation in Potential Wells

2016
In the previous chapter the motion of the “analogon-machine” was studied in case the torsional spring shown in Fig. 7.3 was removed. Our laboratory set-up thereby became the analogue of a free-flying droplet of charge. In the present chapter the analogue of a potential well will be studied.
