Corrosion testing by potentiodynamic polarization in various electrolytes
Dental Materials, 1992The effect of different electrolytes on the results from potentiodynamic polarization corrosion testing was studied for nine different dental alloys. In general, the difference in the results was greater between certain alloys using the same electrolyte than between the electrolytes with the same alloy.

Tutorial on Cyclic Potentiodynamic Polarization Technique
CORROSION 1998, 1998Abstract The cyclic potentiodynamic polarization technique provides a reasonable, rapid method for qualitatively predicting the propensity of an alloy to suffer localized corrosion in the form of pitting and crevice corrosion. Better and more accurate techniques are available for estimating general corrosion rates.

Use of potentiodynamic polarization technique for corrosion testing of dental alloys
European Journal of Oral Sciences, 1991Abstract— The number and in particular the diversity in types and composition of alloys used in dentistry are increasing, thus enhancing the need for predictive corrosion testing. No corrosion test is generally accepted as being both applicable to and relevant for all dental alloys.

Facilitating potentiodynamic anodic polarization measurement in corrosion testing
Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 1996Illustrates how potentiodynamic anodic polarization measurement conventions can be applied to electrochemical measurements in corrosion testing following the standard ASTM G5–87 and G3–89. Provides information for electrochemical corrosion data acquisition in a standard presentation format, making comparison easy with curves found in the literature or ...

Potentiodynamic polarization study of the corrosion behavior of palladium-silver dental alloys
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2018Although palladium-silver alloys have been marketed for over 3 decades for metal-ceramic restorations, understanding of the corrosion behavior of current alloys is incomplete; this understanding is critical for evaluating biocompatibility and clinical performance. The purpose of this in vitro study was to characterize the corrosion behavior of 3 ...

Potentiodynamic Polarization Measurement by Controlling Potential inside a Crevice
CORROSION 1992, 1992Abstract Cyclic potentiodynamic polarization measurements have been made by either controlling the potential inside or outside a crevice. The significant difference between placing a reference electrode inside and outside a crevice is that the reference electrode inside a crevice much better controls the potential to simulate ...

Potentiodynamic Polarization Measurements for Predicting Pitting of Copper in Cooling Waters
CORROSION 1992, 1992Abstract The usefulness of potentiodynamic polarization measurements for predicting pitting corrosion of copper alloy C12200 was evaluated using water samples from nine cooling systems with known corrosion histories. The shape of the cyclic polarization curve was found to be a reliable indicator of the propensity of cooling waters to pit

EIS and potentiodynamic polarization studies on immiscible monotectic Al–In alloys
Electrochimica Acta, 2013Abstract The electrochemical behavior of monotectic Al–In alloys is experimentally investigated. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic anodic polarization techniques and an equivalent circuit analysis were used to evaluate the corrosion response in a stagnant and naturally aerated 0.5 M NaCl solution at 25 °C.

Abstract Potentiodynamic polarization studies were carried out on virgin specimens of Zr 46.75 Ti 8.25 Cu 7.5 Ni 10 Be 27.5 (Vitreloy-4 or V4) and Zr 65 Cu 17.5 Ni 10 Al 7.5 (Inoue alloy) bulk amorphous alloys in solutions of 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 , 0.5 M HNO 3 , 0.5 M HCl and 0.5 M NaOH at room temperature. The corrosion current density ( I corr ) of Zr

Practical Application of Potentiodynamic Polarization Curves in Oil Well Corrosion
CORROSION 1985, 1985Abstract The evaluation of a corrosion inhibitor's film life was undertaken, in the Illinois Basin, to determine retreatment frequency in rod pumping wells. Several different inhibitors were evaluated, and their respective film lives compared in actual pumping wells.
