Target of rapamycin signaling in pea embryos is dependent on glutamine but detached from seed storage protein biosynthesis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 248, Issue 6, Page 2833-2849, December 2025.
Summary Target of rapamycin (TOR) kinase is the hub of a eukaryotic master signaling network that integrates nutritional and hormonal signals into cellular activities. Most studies on TOR in plants have focused on seedlings, where TOR is most responsive to light and sucrose.

Transmission of Bamboo mosaic virus in Bamboos Mediated by Insects in the Order Diptera

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Bamboo mosaic virus (BaMV), a member of the genus Potexvirus, is the major threat to bamboo cultivation. Similar to most potexviruses, the transmission of BaMV by insect vectors has not been documented previously.

Study on the viruses of Petunia in Hungary

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2002
Virus susceptibility of 11 varieties of vegetatively propagated petunia against 2 virus strains (TMV-C/U1 and PVYNTN) were examined. Neither resistant nor tolerant varieties of petunia were found.

RING‐Between‐RING‐Type E3 Ligase Ariadne‐Like Protein 8 Negatively Regulates Plant Virus Infection by Targeting a Viral Movement Protein

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 44, November 27, 2025.
The plant RING‐between‐RING (RBR)‐type E3 ligase, Ariadne‐like protein 8 (ARI8), ubiquitinates and degrades a viral movement protein, restricting virus spread. ARI8 also inhibits other triple gene block 1 (TGB1)‐containing viruses, revealing a broad‐spectrum antiviral role.

Tobamovirus Coat Proteins: Elicitors of the Hypersensitive Response in Solanum melongena (Eggplant)

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1997
Solanum melongena (eggplant) exhibits a hypersensitive response (HR) when infected with tobacco mosaic tobamovirus (TMV). In contrast, a TMV mutant unable to express coat protein (CP) did not elicit the HR, while a potexvirus vector engineered to express

miR398‐Dirigent Module Negatively Regulates Cassava Resistance to Cassava Common Mosaic Virus by Affecting the Cell Wall Lignification and Thickness

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2025.
miR398‐Dirigent module reduces cell wall lignification in cassava, weakening resistance to cassava common mosaic virus. Overexpressing Dir increases cell wall lignification and enhances resistance. ABSTRACT Studies have demonstrated microRNA398 (miR398) hyperaccumulation in plant species infected with viruses; however, its role in a viral context ...

Viral‐mediated delivery of morphogenic regulators enables leaf transformation in Sorghum bicolor (L.)

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 10, Page 4491-4499, October 2025.
Summary Recent advancements in monocot transformation, using leaf tissue as explant material, have expanded the number of grass species capable of transgenesis. However, the complexity of vectors and reliance on inducible excision of essential morphogenic regulators have so far limited widespread application.

Lettuce Big‐Vein Associated Virus ORF3 Encodes a Functional 30K Movement Protein

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 26, Issue 9, September 2025.
AlphaFold2 + FoldSeek structure guided search predicts the movement protein of lettuce big‐vein associated virus despite low sequence similarity. ABSTRACT Movement proteins (MPs) modulate the size exclusion limit of plasmodesmata—membrane‐lined channels connecting plant cells—thereby allowing cell‐to‐cell movement and systemic spread of plant viruses ...

Characterization of Lagenaria mild mosaic virus, a New Potexvirus from Bottle Gourd in Myanmar

open access: yes, 2010
A putative Potexvirus was detected from bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria) showing mosaic and mottle symptoms in Myanmar in 2007. The virus was designated Lagenaria mild mosaic virus (LaMMoV) and was further characterized.
