The present study analyzes wildlife species use indices and a vulnerability in the Aledjo Wildlife Reserve (AWR) in Togo. The Importance Value‐in‐use Index (IVIUsp) indicates that the most valued species are the patas monkey (Erythrocebus patas), the forest cobra (Naja melanoleuca), and the green mamba (Dendroaspis viridis).

Predatory arthropods are attracted to infochemicals emitted by their herbivore prey or by the prey’s host plants. We studied such a tritrophic system measuring the olfactory responses of three potter wasp species (Symmorphusmurarius, Symmorphusgracilis, Discoeliuszonalis, Hymenoptera: Eumeninae) to salicylaldehyde, sequestered as a defence compound by ...

Host chemical footprints induce host sex discrimination ability in egg parasitoids [PDF]
Trissolcus egg parasitoids, when perceiving the chemical footprints left on a substrate by pentatomid host bugs, adopt a motivated searching behaviour characterized by longer searching time on patches were signals are present.

Adjusted mowing dates and, in productive grasslands, an increased mowing frequency may benefit grassland arthropod communities under current environmental conditions. Abstract Arthropod diversity is rapidly declining in semi‐natural grasslands. Among the driving factors are nitrogen deposition and climate change, which typically increase vegetation ...

How far away is the next basket of eggs? Spatial memory and perceived cues shape aggregation patterns in a leaf beetle [PDF]
Gregarious organisms need to handle the trade-off between increasing food competition and the positive effects of group living, and this is particularly important for ovipositing females. We hypothesized that insect females consider how many conspecifics

In other island nations, the establishment of social wasps has had tremendous negative impacts on local biodiversity. The Red wasp Vespula rufa and the Norwegian wasp Dolichovespula norwegica have now been established in Greenland, with unknown impacts on native fauna.

Reproductive capacity of females Eupelmus vuilleti (Eupelmidae) inseminated by hyperparasitoid males developed upon the primary parasitoid Dinarmus basalis (Pteromalidae). [PDF]
Eupelmus vuilleti is a primary and solitary ectoparasitoid of the larval stages of Bruchids (Callosobruchus maculatus, Bruchidius atrolineatus). In a context of intense competition for healthy hosts, E.

Distribution of potter wasps ( Vespidae, Eumeninae) in Mongolia
In this article we summarized distributions of 75 potter wasp species of Mongolia. Each species distribition were transfered into geographic information system (GIS) and drawn in map. New distribution points in Mongolia of 17 species were included.
