A medieval pottery kiln in Exeter
The Antiquaries Journal, 1957This kiln was first discovered in 1931 when Messrs. Hughes erected the Bedford Garage on the site of the former Blue-Coat School (St. John's Hospital) in the upper part of the city. The architect, the late Mr. Harbottle Read, was interested in the structure and arranged that it should be preserved in a pit, 4 ft. 6 in.
