The Potts model

Reviews of Modern Physics, 1982
This is a tutorial review on the Potts model aimed at bringing out in an organized fashion the essential and important properties of the standard Potts model. Emphasis is placed on exact and rigorous results, but other aspects of the problem are also described to achieve a unified perspective.

Antiferromagnetic Potts models

Physical Review Letters, 1989
We present a study of the antiferromagnetic Potts model in two and three dimensions, using a new method of Monte Carlo simulations, which enables us to perform simulations with greatly improved efficiency. Illustrating the method for the three-state model, we have obtained new results for the entropy and critical exponents in two and three dimensions ...

MULTICOMPONENT CHIRAL POTTS MODELS

International Journal of Modern Physics A, 1992
It is shown that an (Nρ,Nσ) chiral Potts model, which is a generalization of the Ashkin-Teller model and consists of two chiral Potts models which are coupled together by four-spin interactions, can always be mapped to a single chiral Potts model of NρNσ states if Nρ and Nσ are relative prime.

Theory of Generalized 3-State Potts Model and Antiferromagnetic Potts Model

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1982
The spin Hamiltonian with spin-1 system including a single parameter is proposed which expresses the 3-state Potts model (PM) or antiferromagnetic Potts model (AFPM) according as a value of the parameter. They are investigated by a new method which is the extension of the effective Hamiltonian method in a unified way.

The fuzzy Potts model

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1995
Summary: We consider the ferromagnetic \(q\)-state Potts model on the \(d\)-dimensional lattice \(\mathbb{Z}^d\), \(d\geq 2\). Suppose that the Potts variables \((\rho_x, x\in\mathbb{Z}^d)\) are distributed in one of the \(q\) low-temperature phases. Suppose that \(n\neq 1,q\) divides \(q\).

Triangular lattice Potts models

Journal of Statistical Physics, 1982
In this paper we study the 3-state Potts model on the triangular lattice which has two- and three-site interactions. Using a Peierls argument we obtain a rigorous bound on the transition temperature, thereby disproving a conjecture on the location of its critical point.
