Congenital pouch colon with duplicate bladder exstrophy
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2008Congenital pouch colon, an unusual high anorectal malformation, is rarely associated with exstrophy variants. We describe a case of congenital pouch colon associated with duplicate bladder exstrophy, never reported before in literature. The relevant literature is reviewed, and the possible embryogenesis of this complex anomaly is suggested.

Congenital pouch colon associated with anorectal malformation: report of 2 cases
Congenital pouch colon associated with anorectal malformation is an unusual anomaly reported most frequently in Asian countries. Pediatric surgeons must be familiar with this anomaly and the pre- and postoperative problems of these patients.

A Novel Colonic J-Pouch Procedure
Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, 2005The conventional methods for making a J-pouch require a stab wound to introduce a linear stapler. We devised a novel procedure that removes any need for this stab wound. With our method, the bowel is first evaginated and a side-to-side anastomosis is created with a linear stapler and the intestine is then returned to a normal position.

The tendency towards sphincter-preserving resection for distal rectal cancers has led to a revival of the technique of coloanal anastomosis (CAA) in recent years. In order to improve functional results, creation of a colonic J-pouch in conjunction with a coloanal anastomosis (CPA) was proposed.

Pseudoexstrophy associated with congenital pouch colon
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1998Pseudoexstrophy or covered exstrophy is a rare exstrophy variant. The authors report a case of covered exstrophy that presented as a newborn with widely separated pubic bones and rectus muscles, a low-set umbilicus, and a subcutaneous bladder. The anal opening was absent, and there was a complex malformation of the external genitalia consisting of a ...

Congenital Pouch Colon: Further Histopathological Perspectives
Fetal and Pediatric Pathology, 2021Congenital pouch colon is an uncommon anomaly worldwide and is usually associated with anorectal malformations. The colonic J‐pouch in colo‐anal anastomosis
Colorectal Disease, 2002AbstractAnastomosis of the colon to the anal canal is now an accepted technique in the surgical management of low and mid rectal cancers. Although significant postoperative bowel disturbance is often seen with straight colo‐anal anastomosis, controversy exists over the benefit of adding a colonic pouch for low anastomoses.Several short and long‐term ...

Congenital pouch colon: an unusual histological finding
Pediatric Surgery International, 2009Congenital pouch colon (CPC) is an unusual abnormality in which the colon ends in a pouch-like dilatation and there is generally an associated anorectal malformation. The condition varies from complete absence of normal colon to a nearly normal length of proximal colon with only recto-sigmoid involvement.
