Full‐length coding sequence analysis of the voltage‐gated sodium channel and acetylcholinesterase genes reveals target‐site mutations and acetylcholinesterase gene duplication in housefly (Musca domestica) populations in Japanese livestock barns

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
We simultaneously analysed insecticide resistance mutations in VGSC and AChE using NGS and hybridization probe capture in houseflies collected from livestock facilities for the first time. Resistance mutations in both VGSC and AChE were detected in most wild populations, suggesting widespread distribution of resistance genes.

Guidelines for Purchase and Application of Poultry Manure for Organic Crop Production

open access: yesEDIS, 2004
Poultry manure and poultry litter (manure with bedding) is commonly used as a soil amendment and nutrient source for organic crop production. However, unless a farmer has an on-farm poultry facility, manure must be outsourced and delivered to the farm ...

Animal Segregation: The Biopolitics of Concentrated Pig Farming

open access: yesTijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper explores the possibility to think through the concept of animal segregation to understand the more‐than‐human geographies of livestock animals. By redirecting the analytical tools for studying the spatial separation of humans to the segregation of animals, this paper contributes to understanding the geographical processes of ...

IMPORTANCE OF COST OFFSETS FOR DAIRY FARMS MEETING A NUTRIENT APPLICATION STANDARD [PDF]

open access: yes
The Environmental Protection Agency requires concentrated animal feeding operations to develop and implement a comprehensive nutrient management plan. Changes in manure management to meet nutrient application standards will generally increase production ...

Too Litter, Too Late: Economic Logistics of Transporting Nutrient-Rich Poultry Litter Out of Nutrient-Saturated Regions [PDF]

open access: yes
Export of excess litter from concentrated animal production regions has become a pressing issue. A break even price for poultry litter in nutrient-deficient areas was identified through a math programming model using willingness to pay data from crop ...

Soil organic carbon increased after 3 years in organic grain systems differing in tillage and organic inputs

open access: yesAgricultural &Environmental Letters, Volume 11, Issue 2, December 2026.
Summary of soil organic carbon (SOC) responses to contrasting organic grain management systems after three years. SOC stocks increased across soil depths (0–60 cm) relative to baseline conditions, while active carbon fractions (POXC, WEOC, and MBC) in the surface soil layer responded to differences in cropping system management strategies.

Salmonella spp. in Serbian poultry production (2020–2025): Retrospective trends and farmers’ perceptions of biosecurity

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, Volume 13, Issue 2, December 2026.
Abstract Background Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica remains a major zoonotic threat worldwide, with poultry products being a major source of human foodborne infections. Methods A retrospective analysis of Salmonella spp. occurrence in Serbian poultry production was conducted using routine diagnostic data collected between 2020 and 2025.
