Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Quantity Constraints, Poverty Lines and Poverty Orderings [PDF]
By limiting the scope for substitution between commodities, other things equal quantity constraints raise the cost of living. Thus, rationed families have higher povery lines than unconstrained ones. This heterogeneity in both resources and poverty lines means that, in principle, bivariate dominance results are required to order distributions in terms ...

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

While poverty lines are indispensable for poverty measurement, there exist a variety of approaches to the specification of poverty lines, including absolute, relative, weakly relative and subjective poverty lines. This chapter briefly reviews the conceptual and normative distinctions underlying different approaches, the commonly-used poverty lines ...

How Are Women Doing in Omaha [PDF]
Women are consistently more likely to have incomes below the poverty line, according to a 2013 study by the Women's Fund of Omaha on "How Women Are Doing in Omaha." The report reveals that 11% of the population reported income below the poverty level ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Poverty Lines across the World [PDF]
AbstractThis article considers alternative views of how to define and estimate the poverty line. Low-income countries tend to use absolute measures of poverty while high-income countries tend to use relative measures of poverty. Using a sample of ninety-five countries, it shows that for all but the poorest fifth of countries, there is a positive ...

Subective poverty line definitions [PDF]
In this paper we will deal with definitions ofsubjective poverty lines. To measure a poverty threshold value in terms of household income, which separates the poor from the non-poor, we take into account the opinions of all people in society. Three subjective methods will be discussed and compared, viz., the Leyden Poverty Line (LPL), the Subjective ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
