Reuse System for Powdered Ion-Exchange Resins

Nuclear Technology, 1986
A reuse system has been developed for powdered ion-exchange resins generated from nuclear power plants in order to reduce their waste volume. The system consists of: 1. crud removal from resins; 2. decomposition of flocks (flocculated resins); 3. resin separation into cation and anion types; 4. regeneration of each type.

Powdered Activated Carbon-Microfiltration for Waste-Water Reuse

Separation Science and Technology, 2013
A range of activated carbon adsorbents have been assessed as pretreatment for microfiltration-based indirect potable reuse (IPR) pilot plant to evaluate the impact on combined membrane fouling and organics removal. Isotherm adsorption analysis showed wide variation between the different adsorbent materials with regards to organics removal and kinetics,

The impact of powder reuse on powder characteristics of laser powder bed fusion TA 15 alloy

Rapid Prototyping Journal
Purpose Most research on Laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) has focused on using virgin metal powders. Meanwhile, the microstructure and mechanical properties of annealed L-PBF components produced with reused powders, particularly titanium alloys, have been less thoroughly investigated.

Characterization of Powder and the Effects of Powder Reuse in Selective Laser Melting

2018
The ability to reuse feedstock in additive manufacturing powder bed processes is vital for cost control and widespread adoption of the technology. This requires an understanding of the effects of thermal cycling in the ambient conditions an additive machine has on the physical, chemical, and microstructural properties of the powder.

Understanding AlSi10Mg Powder Reuse And Degradation In Laser Powder Bed Fusion Systems

Euro PM2025 Proceedings
Powder reuse in laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) offers opportunities to reduce production costs and environmental impact; but may alter powder properties, potentially compromising part quality. The limited understanding of how powder degradation during reuse affects melt pool behaviour and part quality restricts its industrial adoption [1].

The impact of Ti6Al4V powder reuse on the quality of electron beam powder bed fusion parts

Progress in Additive Manufacturing
The electron beam powder bed fusion (PBF-EB) process has several advantages typical of additive manufacturing. However, at the end of the process, a large amount of powder is left that needs to be disposed of. Therefore, reusing powder for several build jobs may represent an interesting opportunity in the context of sustainable manufacturing.
