POWDER DIFFRACTION

Röntgen Centennial, 1997
the importance of x-ray powder diffraction as an analytical tool for phase identification of materials was first pointed out by Debye and Scherrer in Germany and, quite independently, by Hull in the US. Three distinct periods of evolution lead to ubiquitous application in many fields of science and technology. In the first period, until the mid-1940`s,

Mechanics of Powder Plastic Powder Compacts

2001
Abstract : Colloidal Isopressing is a new method for the shaping of ceramic components from powder suspensions in a rapid and effective manner. Colloidal Isopressing starts with a slurry containing a relatively low volume fraction of powder, where the particles weakly attracted to one another due to a short-range repulsive potential developed during ...

Dispersion of powders

1981
In many size analysis methods it is necessary to incorporate a powder into a liquid medium such that the particles are evenly dispersed. If the powder surface is lyophobic the powder is difficult to disperse, if it is lyophilic the powder disperses easily (for water dispersions the terms are hydrophobic and hydrophilic respectively).
