Peristaltic Transport of Two-Layered Power-Law Fluids

Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1997
Peristaltic transport of two-layered power-law fluids in axisymmetric tubes is studied. Use of the power-law fluid model permits independent choice of shear thinning, shear thickening, or Newtonian fluids for the core and the peripheral layer. The interface between the two layers is determined from a transcendental equation in the core radius.

Control of power-law fluids

Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 1985
The paper is concerned with initial boundary value problems for the scalar equation \(u_ t(x,t)+A(u)(x,t)=v(t)\phi (x)\) in \(\Omega\) x(0,T)\(\subset {\mathbb{R}}^ 4,\) where \(A(w)=-\nabla \cdot (| \nabla w|^{p-2}\cdot \nabla w)\), \(\phi\) is given, and v is an L 2-control that is sought to minimize \[ J(v)=\int_{\Omega}| u(\cdot,T)- z(\cdot)| \quad

Electrokinetically modulated peristaltic transport of power-law fluids

Microvascular Research, 2016
The electrokinetically modulated peristaltic transport of power-law fluids through a narrow confinement in the form of a deformable tube is investigated. The fluid is considered to be divided into two regions - a non-Newtonian core region (described by the power-law behavior) which is surrounded by a thin wall-adhering layer of Newtonian fluid.

Solution of Unsteady Flow of Power Law Fluids

AIAA Journal, 1972
The experimental results have verified the linear behavior of the intensity of Raman scattered light as a function of specie concentration. It can be concluded that the technique is capable of identifying and measuring concentrations of individual gaseous species in a mixture during a single 10-nanosec sampling time.

Interfacial pattern formation in confined power-law fluids

Physical Review E, 2014
The interfacial pattern formation problem in an injection-driven radial Hele-Shaw flow is studied for the situation in which a Newtonian fluid of negligible viscosity displaces a viscous non-Newtonian power-law fluid. By utilizing a Darcy-law-like formulation, we tackle the fluid-fluid interface evolution problem perturbatively, and we derive second ...

Withdrawal of power law fluid films

Chemical Engineering Science, 1970
Abstract The thickness of a layer of a power law fluid on a sheet, which is withdrawn from a bath, is determined for the three regimes of withdrawal conditions. The flux in viscous withdrawal is, like for a newtonian liquid, lower than the maximum possible flux on a sheet moving upwards with a certain velocity.

Consistometers rheometry of power-law viscous fluids

Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, 2005
This work provides a one-dimensional analytical theory for straight and axisymmetric consistometers, and helps with their use as rheometers. It is shown that these very economical and easy-to-use instruments provide an accurate characterisation of the rheological behaviour of shear-thinning, shear thickening and other materials of high apparent ...

Boundary-layer analysis of power-law fluids

Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1989
An exact numerical solution to the 2-D(Two-Dimensional) laminar boundary-layer equations of power-law non-newtonian fluids is obtained using a finite difference technique. No limitation has been imposed on the flow behavior index(n) or generalized Prandli number As a test case, velocity and temperature fields around a circular cylinder in crossflow ...

Power law fluid flow over spheroidal particles

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1994
The equations of motion have been solved numerically for the incompressible power law fluid flow past spherical and spheroidal solid particles. The finite element technique has been employed to obtain the velocity and pressure fields prevailing around a particle. These have been further processed to evaluate the individual contributions of pressure and
