The European Union and Interethnic Power-sharing Arrangements in Accession Countries [PDF]

open access: yesJournal on Ethnopolitics and Minority Issues in Europe, 2003
The article focuses on the impact exerted by the EU on domestic interethnic politics in accession countries. It argues that the EU has contributed to the emergence of power-sharing arrangements in accession countries, since its minority protection policy

An Active Power Sharing Method among Distributed Energy Sources in an Islanded Series Micro-Grid

open access: yesEnergies, 2014
Active power-sharing among distributed energy sources (DESs) is not only an important way to realize optimal operation of micro-grids, but also the key to maintaining stability for islanded operation. Due to the unique configuration of series micro-grids

How a Coalition of Immigration Groups is Advocating for Broad Social and Political Change: New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In the late 1990's members of the New York Immigration Coalition took the bold step of beginning to use their collective clout to be effective, not just on immigration policy, but on issues like housing, education and health care.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Power Sharing in Syria: Lessons from Lebanon's Experience [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the last two years, the Syrian uprising has turned from a civil protest movement against an authoritarian regime into an outright civil war in which the antagonists affiliations' and identities are increasingly framed in sectarian speech.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Stabilizing Power Sharing [PDF]

open access: yes
Power sharing is modeled as a duel over some prize. Each of two players may either share the prize in some ratio or fire at the other player—either in sequence or simultaneously—and eliminate it with a specified probability.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

An Improved Control Strategy for Three-Phase Power Inverters in Islanded AC Microgrids

open access: yesInventions, 2018
Microgrids (MGs) are composed of multiple distributed generators (DGs) interfaced to micronetwork through paralleled connected power inverters (PIs). Load sharing among multiple DG units is an important task for autonomous operation of microgrids.
