The Power of Filling in Balanced Allocations

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics
We introduce a new class of balanced allocation processes which are primarily characterized by "filling" underloaded bins. A prototypical example is the Packing process: At each round we only take one bin sample, if the load is below the average load, then we place as many balls until the average load is reached; otherwise, we place only one ball.

Power allocation for offset spatial modulation

open access: yesIET Communications, 2023
Abstract Offset spatial modulation (OSM) is an attractive variant in the family of spatial modulation technology, which is capable of reducing the frequency of radio frequency chain switching in practical implementations. This paper elaborates on the benefits of adaptive power allocation (PA) conceived for OSM systems. First, a closed‐

Land use change patterns and landscape ecological risk assessment in the process of watershed ecological compensation

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
As China’s pioneering cross-provincial ecological compensation zone, the upper Xin’an River Basin harbors immense ecological value. However, the long-term effects of its compensation policies on land use dynamics and associated landscape ecological risks

CNN-Based End-to-End CPU-AP-UE Power Allocation for Spectral Efficiency Enhancement in Cell-Free Massive MIMO Networks

open access: yesMathematics
Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) networks eliminate cell boundaries and enhance uniform quality of service by enabling cooperative transmission among access points (APs). In conventional cellular networks, user equipment located at

Joint subchannel power allocation for downlink NOMA systems based on quantum carnivorous plant algorithm

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences
Currently, most existing research on non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems converts power allocation into two independent procedures, i.e., inter-subchannel power allocation and intra-subchannel power allocation.

Hydrological drought dynamic using copula functions and drought center migration in the Ganjiang river basin

open access: yesScientific Reports
Understanding the spatiotemporal evolution of hydrological drought is essential for effective drought management. This study investigated hydrological drought in Ganjiang River Basin (GRB), China from 1959 to 2019 using observed and SWAT-simulated runoff

Register allocation and binding for low power [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 32nd ACM/IEEE conference on Design automation conference - DAC '95, 1995
This paper describes a technique for calculating the switching activity of a set of registers shared by different data values. Based on the assumption that the joint pdf (probability density function) of the primary input random variables is known or that a suffficiently large number of input vectors has been given, the register assignment problem for ...
