New current regulation principle [for power convertors]

IEMDC 2001. IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (Cat. No.01EX485), 2002
In this paper, two novel methods for current regulation are presented. They both are based on the synchronized on-off principle, where an additional algorithm for null voltage vector is implemented, depending on the predicted current error at the end of the sampling interval. The methods are intended for use on modern DSP controllers.

Power transistor convertor with new, fast response regulator

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1974
Summary The paper describes the theory, design and practical performance of a power transistor converter with an output of o V to ±240 V and up to ±10 A, that is, up to 2.4 kW dc. The transistors are bridge connected and employ pulse-width modulation (PWM) with carrier frequency cancellation.

SiC Schottky Diode for Use in Power Convertors

2006 International Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference, 2006
The specification characteristics of power electronic applications can be improved by use of the recent high-speed power devices. The Schottky structure has been developed for direct type converter circuits. The description of real layout and testing methodology of an experimental sample of 4H-SiC Schottky barrier diode manufactured by diffusion ...

Generalised convertor models for iterative harmonic analysis in power systems

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1994
There is an increasing interest in steady-state analysis of electric power systems with convertors. Harmonic analysis can be performed in the frequency domain with iterative methods that are comprehensive and efficient but may present convergence problems; this drawback can be overcome by employing appropriate models of convertors.

Passive low-power single-phase—3-phase convertor

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1970
The paper describes a passive network for producing a balanced 3-phase output from a single-phase source. The novelty of the method centres on the observation that a single-phase supply can be regarded as a particular case of an unbalanced 3-phase system, and employs phase-balancing concepts which are derived from symmetrical component-measuring ...

Cooling system of Haenam-Jeju HVDC system [power convertor]

ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8570), 2002
This paper deals with the water cooling system of the Haenam-Jeju HVDC link power convertor in Korea. It is generally accepted that water is a very effective medium to remove heat from any type of equipment. Because of this, the benefits the water cooling method are used in HVDC applications.

Comprehensive Evaluation on Power Quality of Tidal Current Convertors

Marine Technology Society Journal, 2019
AbstractWith the continuous development of testing and evaluation of tidal current convertors, power quality assessment is becoming more and more critical. According to the characteristics of Chinese tidal current power generation and power quality standards, this paper proposes a comprehensive evaluation method of power quality based on K-means ...

Methods of increasing the power rating of vibratory convertors

Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1951
The paper discusses some of the difficulties encountered when extending the load capacity of vibratory convertors, and, in particular, those which are imposed by contact deterioration due to arcing. Two methods are described by which these difficulties may be overcome, both making use of special circuits designed to reduce the current carried by the ...

Bidirectional power convertor for voltage fed inverter machine drives

PESC `92 Record. 23rd Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2003
The authors describe the development and operational characteristics of a prototype bidirectional AC-DC power converter based on a novel topology, suitable for feeding the DC link of voltage-fed inverter drives. The circuit uses fewer components than proposed alternatives and exhibits significantly less supply current distortion than the conventional ...

Modeling average current mode control [of power convertors]

APEC 2000. Fifteenth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (Cat. No.00CH37058), 2002
An averaged small signal model is presented which predicts some of the previously reported phenomena and offers new insights with analytical expressions useful for design. Detailed analysis is given for the buck converter topology with the boost and buck-boost results also provided.
