System-performance analysis of optimized gain-switched pulse source employed in 40-and 80-Gb/s OTDM systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The development of ultrashort optical pulse sources, exhibiting excellent temporal and spectral profiles, will play a crucial role in the performance of future optical time division multiplexed (OTDM) systems. In this paper, we demonstrate the difference

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

A Machine-Learning Approach for the Exemplar Extraction of mmWave Industrial Wireless Channels

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Instrumentation and Measurement, 2022
Industrial wireless channel modeling is essential for the development of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) wireless systems. Moreover, millimeter-wave (mmWave) wireless bands have a high potential to be used for IIoT applications because of their high

Strongly lensed repeating Fast Radio Bursts as precision probes of the universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fast Radio bursts (FRBs), bright transients with millisecond durations at $\sim$ GHz and typical redshifts probably $>0.8$, are likely to be gravitationally lensed by intervening galaxies. Since the time delay between images of strongly lensed FRB can be

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

On the Structured Design Methodology of Effective PRACH Detection: Multi-Stage Thresholding Perspective

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this paper, we provide a tutorial on the structured design of effective Physical Random Access CHannel (PRACH) preamble detection based on correlation power.

Temporal profiles for measuring threshold of random lasers pumped by ns pulses

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The working threshold is an important parameter to assess the performance of cavity-free random lasers. Here, the temporal profile measurement is proposed as an alternative method to determine the thresholds of the surface plasmon based random lasers ...

A simple ANN-MLP model for estimating 60-GHz PDP inside public and private vehicles

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2023
Radio wave propagation in an intra-vehicular (IV) environment is markedly different from other well-studied indoor scenarios, such as an office or a factory floor.

On the Stationarity Time of a Vehicle-to-Infrastructure Massive Radio Channel in a Line-of-Sight Suburban Environment

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) communication systems are a pillar technology for 5G. However, the wireless radio channel models relying on the assumption of wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (WSSUS) may not always be valid for

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.
