Pathways to High-Power-Density Redox Flow Batteries

open access: yes, 2023
Redox flow batteries (RFBs) promise to fill a crucial missing link in the energy transition: inexpensive and widely deployable grid and industrial-scale energy storage for intermittent renewable electricity.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Control Strategy for Hybrid Magnetic Bearing Based on Improved Cascaded Reduced-Order Active Disturbance Rejection Controller

open access: yesCES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems
During the startup of the hydraulic turbine generators, the hybrid magnetic bearing support system exhibits displacement fluctuations, and the nonlinearity and strong coupling characteristics of the magnetic bearings limit the accuracy of rotor modeling,

Measurement and Computational Modeling of Radio-Frequency Electromagnetic Power Density Around GSM Base Transceiver Station Antennas [PDF]

open access: yesAUT Journal of Electrical Engineering, 2017
Evaluating the power densities emitted by GSM1800 and GSM900 BTS antennas isconducted via two methods. Measurements are carried out in half a square meter grids around twoantennas. CST Microwave STUDIO software is employed to estimate the power densities

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Minimax estimation of the integral of a power of a density [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics & Probability Letters, 2008
We construct an estimator of ∫fp (z) dz, based on a random sample of size n from a density f on the unit cube in ℝ d . This estimator achieves the minimax rate for f known to belong to a multiple of the unit ball in a Hölder space of order α, where α ≤ d/4. We are mostly interested in the case that the power p is larger than 2 and/or the dimension d is

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
