Economic and environmental power dispatch

European Journal of Operational Research, 1993
Abstract This paper reviews the operational research aspects of power dispatch since their inceptions to the present. The classic single criterion dispatch as well as new multicriteria approaches in dispatching, oriented both toward economy and avoidance of unacceptable environmental impact, are summarized.

Optimal Power Dispatch

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1974
This paper presents an economic dispatch procedure for allocating generation in a power system by the use of the Jacobian matrix. The major advantage of the procedure over other optimal dispatch procedures is its inherent simplicity and rapid convergence behavior which are characteristics particularly omportant for on-line implementation.

Decoupled Power System Security Dispatch

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1983
This paper presents a methodology for solving the Optimal Load Flow problem. The problem is formulated as a non-linear constrained optimization problem, recognizing system losses; operating limits on the generation units and line security limits. The optimization problem is solved by an iterative scheme.

Economic Dispatch in power systems

2015 IEEE 8th GCC Conference & Exhibition, 2015
Economic Dispatch is an important optimization problem in power system planning. This article presents an overview of the economic dispatch problem, its formulation, and a comparison of addressing the problem between the vertically integrated market and the liberalized market environments.

Security-constrained reactive power dispatch

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1991
A method of solving the preventive security-constrained reactive power VAr dispatch problem is presented. A decomposition-coordination scheme is conceived in order to take advantage of the special structure of the problem. Instead of tearing the network, the problem itself is decomposed into smaller subproblems. Techniques are presented for contingency

Sparse Linear Reactive Power Dispatch

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1985
Abstract This paper presents a Linear Programming (LP) based algorithm to solve reactive power dispatch problems. Linear sensitivities are derived using the reactive power model from the fast decoupled power flow solution method. A suitable criterion is suggested to form a sparse reactive power sensitivity matrix.

Evolution of China’s power dispatch principle and the new energy saving power dispatch policy

Energy Policy, 2010
Abstract With social economic reform in the past decades, the power industry of China is gradually evolving from a highly integrated one toward an electricity market, which can be characterized based on the transition of the power dispatch principle. To attract investment in the power generating industry, China introduced non-state-owned power plants

Reactive-power dispatch by successive quadratic programming

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1989
The reactive-power dispatch is formulated as the minimization of real-power losses in the system, utilizing a full set of control variables: generator voltages, switchable shunt susceptances, and transformer taps. The solution of the loss problem is obtained by successively solving quadratic programming problems.

Power economic dispatch using particle swarm optimization

2015 Power Generation System and Renewable Energy Technologies (PGSRET), 2015
Current market environment, ever growing difference between depleting energy resources and increasing power demand and increased expectations of customers from utility companies has made it necessary to adopt some good operational policies by electric utility companies.
