Extended Fault-Location Formulation for Power Distribution Systems

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2009
In this paper, an extended impedance-based fault-location formulation for generalized distribution systems is presented. The majority of distribution feeders are characterized by having several laterals, nonsymmetrical lines, highly unbalanced operation, and time-varying loads.

Voltage sag distributions caused by power system faults

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2003
Voltage sag distributions caused by faults at different voltage levels and experienced by low-voltage customers were established for four different power system areas. The shares of different fault types at each voltage level and the sag propagation throughout the power system were taken into account.

Fault-location Observability Analysis on Power Distribution Systems

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2014
AbstractMost of the fault-location methods developed in the past employed measurements obtained from a limited number of meters installed in a power system. Optimal meter placement in power systems is to make the best use of a limited number of meters available to keep the entire network observable.

Distributed sensor fault detection and isolation for multimachine power systems

International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2014
SUMMARYThis paper presents a distributed sensor fault detection and isolation (FDI) scheme for multimachine power systems. Each generator is interconnected with other generators through a transmission network, where the interactions between directly interconnected generators are nonlinear.

Fault Resilient Smart Power Distribution System

This thesis presents novel approaches for fault location identification and post-fault reconfiguration in smart power distribution systems. The fault location identification methods are proposed in phasor domain and time domain and consider inverter-interfaced distributed generations (IIDGs).

A Distributed Architecture for Power Network Fault Analysis

TENCON 2005 - 2005 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2005
This paper discusses a distributed diagnostic algorithm for fault analysis in power networks. DAPoN is a model-based diagnostic algorithm that incorporates a hierarchical power network representation and model. The architecture is based on substation-server implementation.

Fault Location in Power Distribution System With Penetration of Distributed Generation

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2011
It has been shown that coordination between protective devices in distribution systems in the presence of significant distributed generation (DG) will be disrupted. With the recent trend of adopting and integrating renewable resources and microgrids with distribution systems, it is probable that distribution systems will have significant and arbitrary ...
