Fault tolerant distributed power
Proceedings of Applied Power Electronics Conference. APEC '96, 2002Redundant power systems are used where safety or power availability is critical. An alternate approach is proposed and compared to existing power system configurations. An example as applied to critical avionics on aircraft is presented, illustrating cost and weight savings in addition to improved power system performance. The reliability models, fault

On the power of reconfiguration in fault-tolerant distributed databases
Proceedings of the Twenty-Seventh Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences HICSS-94, 1994Dynamic reconfiguration is used to significantly increase fault-tolerance in replicated databases. This is illustrated for both unstructured and logically structured replicated databases. Previous work on reconfiguration was mainly concerned with changes within a particular replica management protocol.

Distributed fault detection and isolation for power system
International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2021AbstractIn this article, a novel distributed fault detection and isolation method is proposed for large‐scale power system affected by additive type of faults and energy bounded disturbances. First, in order to design the local residual generators, a bank of Luenberger observers are designed to estimate the local states of the system, and the ...

Integrated Fault Location System for Power Distribution Feeders
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2012A fast, accurate fault location solution for power distribution feeders enables utility companies to clear a fault quicker and reduce the outage duration. Traditional impedance-based fault location methods assume that all feeder sections have the same impedance characteristics.

A fault classification and localization method in a power distribution network
2017 IEEE AFRICON, 2017This paper presents a method of fault diagnosis in a power distribution network. A segment of a 88 kV power distribution network is modelled in Digsilent Power Factory. Various types of fault cases are obtained through an Electromagnetic Transient study on the model.

Fault tolerance in distributed power systems
IV IEEE International Power Electronics Congress. Technical Proceedings. CIEP 95, 2002The demand for continuously available information processing systems increases every day. Transaction processing, communications systems, and critical processes all require nonstop, fault tolerant operation. There are four steps to achieving fault tolerance in any system. However, no system will operate without a supply of electrical power.

Fault protection on shipboard A-C power-distribution systems
Electrical Engineering, 1944THE growth in the use of electrically driven auxiliaries on shipboard has produced very large increases in the installed generating capacity. This fact together with the necessity for maintaining a high degree of reliability and continuity of service in shipboard powerdistribution systems has emphasized the importance of providing adequate fault ...

Power-Law Testing for Fault Attributes Distributions
Pure and Applied Geophysics, 2013This paper is devoted to statistical analysis of faults’ attributes. The distributions of lengths, widths of damage zones, displacements and thicknesses of fault cores are studied. Truncated power-law (TPL) is considered in comparison with commonly used simple power-law (PL) (or Pareto) distribution.

Fault size distributions — are they really power-law?
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1996Abstract Power-law fault size (throw) distributions spanning ca seven orders of magnitude are analysed using sample lines from seismic, coal-mine plan and outcrop data sets. Outcrop data sets generally have lower power-law exponent values than seismic data sets, consistent with a general decrease in exponent value with decrease in fault size. If such
