Reliability evaluation in power distribution system planning studies
2016 International Conference on Probabilistic Methods Applied to Power Systems (PMAPS), 2016In distribution system planning studies, reliability evaluation is performed during optimization procedure to calculate the interruption cost, DISCO's income and to check the viability of constraints related to reliability indices. In each iteration of the optimization algorithm a special plan is evaluated that is different from other plans.

Strategic Planning for Capacity in Power Distribution Grids
Distributed Generation & Alternative Energy Journal, 2012ABSTRACT Utility planners strive to develop a distribution network which provides economic, reliable, and safe electric energy to the end users. Since the power demand has a tendency to grow, utility companies must cope with the increasing load by continuously upgrading the existing substations and power lines in the grid, or by adding new ones.

Dispatchable wind power generation planning for distribution systems
2017 7th International Conference on Power Systems (ICPS), 2017In this paper, a set of new planning strategies are proposed to optimally accommodate aggregated capacity of wind farms with special switching arrangements to make these dis-patchable. The goal is to mitigate the issues of intense renewable power penetration on distribution systems such as wind power curtailment, reverse power flow problem, high ...

Power Distribution Networks Planning Optimization in Smart Cities
2017For meeting the demands imposed by the transition from the current tate networks to smart grids and smart cities, the planning of distribution networks will operate. We propose a method of optimizing urban power distribution networks using the idealized networks using the idealized concept.

Power system planning with multiple distributed generators
2016Due to increasing energy demand and increasing interest in green energy, the conventional energy generation, transmission and distribution system is now in the changing phase. Energy generation is now preferred from renewable resources. To reduce the burden of transmission lines and due to the increasing energy demand, generation is preferred near the ...

Development planning in power distribution companies in Poland
16th International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution (CIRED 2001), 2001The aim of this paper is to present the issues connected with development of planning in Polish electric power distribution companies, in terms of both legal regulations governing this branch of economy and other documents created by such a company or required from it.

Pseudodynamic planning for expansion of power distribution systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1991Basic and extended planning models, based on a pseudodynamic methodology, for solving the global expansion problem (sizing, locating, and timing) of distribution substations and feeders throughout the planning time period are presented. The objective functions that represent the expansion costs are minimized by successive concatenated optimizations ...
