Distributed Generation integration with enhanced power system protection

2015 International Conference on Technological Advancements in Power and Energy (TAP Energy), 2015
Distributed Generation (DG) has increased tremendously from last two decades because of its advantages like production of highly reliable power by utilizing the renewable resources. But due to the integration of DG, power quality issues and power system protection problems arise.

Adaptive Quasi-Power Differential Protection Scheme for Active Distribution Networks

IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid
With the massive integration of distributed generations (DGs), distribution networks gradually become more active and flexible. Conventional overcurrent protection is difficult to adapt to such active distribution networks (ADNs).

Analysis on Protective Coordination between Over-Current Relays with Voltage Component in a Power Distribution System with SFCL

IEEE transactions on applied superconductivity, 2020
To solve the increased fault current in a power distribution system due to its interconnected operation of the generators with larger capacities, the superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) have been noticed as the advantageous protective devices.

Influence of harmonics on power distribution system protection

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1988
The effects of nonsinusoidal voltages and currents on the performance of static underfrequency and overcurrent relays are experimentally studied. The tests were conducted in such a way that the frequency, amplitude and phase shift of individual harmonics could be adjusted in a controlled manner by using a waveform generator with a phase-locking circuit.

Distributed Generation: impact on Protections and Power Quality

IEEE Latin America Transactions, 2013
The present energy crisis drives to carry to an extreme the use of all the available energy sources, which need to be connected in their closest point. Traditional electric systems are changing their characteristics. Power quality is one of the aspects modified by the presence of distributed generation (DG), specially respect to harmonics, flicker ...

Review on DC Distribution Network Protection Technology with Distributed Power Supply

2018 Chinese Automation Congress (CAC), 2018
With the rapid development of power electronics technology, DC distribution network has technical and economic advantages in many fields and has great development space. In this paper, the topology of the DC distribution network with two power supply “hand in hand” is taken as the research object, and the protection configuration of the DC distribution

Reverse Power Flow (RPF) Detection and Impact on Protection Coordination of Distribution Systems

Annual Meeting of the IEEE Industry Applications Society, 2019
Due to the inclusion of Distributed Generation (DG) in modern power systems, there are certain changes in the distribution and transmission stage, either by impedance reflected by the lines and the increase of short circuit currents.

Analysis on Coordination of Over-Current Relay Using Voltage Component in a Power Distribution System With a SFCL

IEEE transactions on applied superconductivity, 2019
To reduce the more increased fault current due to the increase of the power generation with the power demand, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) has received attention as one of the effective methods to resolve the fault current problem ...
