Low power enhancements for parallel algorithms

ISCAS 2001. The 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (Cat. No.01CH37196), 2002
In this paper we present a general approach for reducing switching activity on the algorithmic level. We concentrate on iterative algorithms that are suitable for an implementation on parallel processor arrays. The reduction is substantially reached by avoiding operations that hardly contribute to the convergence of the implemented algorithm.

Gurdjieff and Ego-Enhancement: A Powerful Alliance

American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, 1997
24 housewives wishing to take more control over their lives were matched on their Control of Life Thermometer scores, one member of each pair being randomly allocated to either an Experimental or a Control group. While this latter group read material on how they might achieve the increased control they desired, the Experimental group had two 50-minute ...

Enhancing observability in power distribution grids

2017 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2017
Power distribution grids are currently challenged by observability issues due to limited metering infrastructure. On the other hand, smart meter data, including local voltage magnitudes and power injections, are collected at grid nodes with renewable generation and demand-response programs. A power flow-based approach using these data is put forth here

Enhancing Power Quality

Modern power systems must be designed with dependable power filters that reduce voltage and current harmonics in order to satisfy utility grid power quality standards. This chapter discusses a methodical approach to designing a shunt active power filter (SAPF) for improving power quality.

Enhancing oral implantology with power ultrasonics

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2010
Oral implantology is the branch of dentistry focused on the reconstruction of missing teeth and their supporting structures with natural or synthetic substitutes. Conventional instruments used during oral implantation exhibit severe operational limitations, especially in the presence of limited surgical access, anatomically delicate bone structures ...

The Power in Being Yourself: Feeling Authentic Enhances the Sense of Power

Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, 2018
Across five experiments (total N = 715), we propose that people can gain a subjective sense of power by being authentic—in other words, state authenticity breeds power. Supporting this, participants reported feeling more powerful when they visualized themselves behaving authentically versus inauthentically (Study 1), or recalled a time when they felt ...

On the Computational Power of Enhanced Mobile Membranes

2008
The enhanced mobile membranes is a variant of membrane systems which has been proposed for describing some biological mechanisms of the immune system. In this paper, we study the computational power of the enhanced mobile membranes. In particular, we focus on the power of mobility given by the operations endo, exo, fendoand fexo.

Enhanced clustered voltage scaling for low power

Proceedings of the 12th ACM Great Lakes Symposium on VLSI - GLSVLSI '02, 2002
This paper presents a voltage scaling approach that is based on an enhanced variant of clustered voltage scaling originally proposed by Usami and Horowitz ([1]) The results show that subtituting the original depth first strategy with a breadth first one results in improved speed and quality of results.

Ways to Enhance Differential Power Analysis

2003
In [1] P. Kocher et al. introduced Differential Power Analysis (DPA), a statistical test (the difference of means) to retrieve secret keys from smart cards power consumption. For the correct hypothesis on the key, the difference of means is significantly different from zero. Hence a large peak is observed in the trace of the difference of means for the
