Efficiency optimization for a power factor correction (PFC) rectifier with gallium nitride transistor

2015 IEEE 3rd Workshop on Wide Bandgap Power Devices and Applications (WiPDA), 2015
In this contribution, a 1 kW one phase power factor correction (PFC) rectifier with a Gallium Nitride (GaN) transistor is optimized considering switching frequency in regard to the losses of the PFC inductor. A driver circuit with negative voltage at switch-off supplied from a unipolar voltage supply is proposed.

Diode-bridge enclosed one switch three-phase power factor corrected (PFC) Ĉuk rectifier

2017 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2017
A new one-switch three phase power factor corrected (PFC) rectifier is presented in this paper. The proposed 3-phase ac-dc converter is based on Ĉuk topology. Proper feedback control of the circuit can maintain high power factor and low input current total harmonic distortion (THD).

A new power factor correction (PFC) control method suitable for low cost DSP

24th Annual International Telecommunications Energy Conference, 2003
One main barrier to implement digital control for power factor correction (PFC) is the limited switching frequency due to the limited processor speed. A new digital PFC control method is proposed to solve this problem. For convention digital methods, the duty cycle is calculated every switching period.

Interleaved Boundary Conduction Mode (BCM) Buck Power Factor Correction (PFC) Converter

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2013
An interleaved boundary conduction mode power-factor-correction buck converter that maintains high efficiency across entire load and line range is proposed. The adaptive master-slave interleaving method maintains stable 180° out-of-phase operation during any transient.

A DSP based controller for power factor correction (PFC) in a rectifier circuit

APEC 2001. Sixteenth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (Cat. No.01CH37181), 2002
In this paper a digital signal processor (DSP) based power factor correction (PFC) scheme is presented. A dual-loop controller is designed to control the average input AC current as well as DC bus voltage. The DSP controller is implemented and tested. Design methodologies and trade-offs such as discrete-time implementation methods are also presented.

A direct duty cycle calculation algorithm for digital power factor correction (PFC) implementation

2004 IEEE 35th Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37551), 2005
A new PFC control method based on direct duty cycle calculation is proposed. The duty cycle required to achieve unity power factor is calculated directly based on the reference current and sensed inductor current, input voltage and output voltage. For both digital and analog implementation, the proposed PFC control method is simpler than commonly used ...

Current stress minimizing control scheme for power factor correction ( PFC ) boost pre-regulator

2007 7th Internatonal Conference on Power Electronics, 2007
A simple technique for PFC circuit is presented using UC3854. This technique is about current peak controlling by a reference current generator. Decreased peak currents of the boost pre-regulator reduce circuit current stress and so rated currents of circuit elements are minimized.

Triple loop modulation (TLM) for high reliability and efficiency in Power Factor Correction (PFC) system

2012 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2012
The proposed triple loop modulation (TLM) can ensure reliability of the power factor correction (PFC) system due to the improvement of transient response. In conventional design, low bandwidth of less than 20 Hz that rejects ac source of 60/120 Hz coupling deteriorates system reliability in case of output load variation.

A Power Factor Corrected Resonant EV Charger Using Reduced Sensor Based Bridgeless Boost PFC Converter

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2020
A reduced sensor based bridgeless boost (BLB) PFC converter fed full bridge inductor-inductor capacitor (FBLLC) converter for electric vehicle (EV) charging, is presented in this work. This converter is a twin stage converter, where the first stage is a PFC-BLB converter operating in continuous inductor conduction mode (CICM), and the second stage is a

Analysis of the interleaved type power factor correction (PFC) converter in discontinuous current mode

30th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2004. IECON 2004, 2005
Power factor correction (PFC) technique is an important topic in the field of power electronics. This paper presents the analysis of the interleaved type PFC (Power Factor Correction) converter. The input current of this converter automatically follows the sinusoidal line voltage when the converter is operated in discontinuous current mode (DCM).
