Effect of power frequency harmonics on magnetic field measurements
Radiation and Environmental Biophysics, 2000This paper presents a study of the effect of harmonic frequencies on magnetic field measurements. We introduced magnetic field meters in a known magnetic field of different frequencies: power frequency (50 Hz) as well as 3rd (150 Hz) and 5th (250 Hz) harmonic frequencies. Two magnetic field levels (0.25 A and 2.5 A) were used.

Power frequency magnetic field; depressive illness and myocardial infarction
Public Health, 1989Surveys were made to determine whether susceptibility to depressive illness and to myocardial infarction of people living in Wolverhampton was related to the intensity of 50 Hz magnetic field outside their homes. Comparing case with control addresses it was found that the field strength was significantly higher for depressive illness (P = 0.033) but ...

Power frequency magnetic field and illness in multistorey blocks
Public Health, 1988A survey was made to determine whether susceptibility to illness of people living in multistorey blocks in Wolverhampton was related to their situation within the block relative to that of the main electrical supply cable. It was found that significantly more people suffering from some types of heart disease ( P = 0.056) and from depressive illness ...

Susceptibility of magnetic information storage to power frequency magnetic fields
IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Magazine, 2013The potential for loss of magnetically stored information in the presence of power frequency magnetic fields is described in terms of fundamental physical mechanisms. Three important mechanisms are identified: (1) short term erasure when external fields are high enough to be a significant fraction of the demagnetizing field, (2) long term thermal ...

ASSESSING COMPLIANCE WITH POWER-FREQUENCY MAGNETIC-FIELD GUIDELINES
Health Physics, 2002Several organizations have established guidelines for occupational exposure to power-frequency magnetic fields. At 60 hertz, exposure limits are 1.0 millitesla (mT) for the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, 0.42 mT for the International Committee on Non-ionizing Radiation Protection, and 1.6 mT for the National Radiation ...

Measurements of power frequency magnetic fields away from power lines
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1991Recent epidemiological studies have focused attention on the measurement of ambient-level power frequency magnetic fields in residential and industrial settings. Because the existing IEEE standard for characterizing power frequency magnetic fields is intended for measurements near power lines, it have a number of residential fields.

EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT FOR POWER Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields
American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1993Over the past decade considerable data have been collected on electric and magnetic fields in occupational environments. These data have taken the form of area measurements, source characterizations, and personal exposure measurements. Occupational EMF levels are highly variable in space and time.

Power frequency magnetic fields and computer monitor instability
Displays, 1998Owing to the increased use of electronic loads, the harmonic content of the magnetic field in buildings has increased and it is therefore of interest to study how the harmonics (i.e.

Simple variable power frequency magnetic field measurement
2016 International Conference on Signal Processing, Communication, Power and Embedded System (SCOPES), 2016Electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic interference are important factors of Power engineering and have direct effect on sensitive equipment performance. Therefore, sensitive devices must have field protection against surrounding magnetic fields.

Power frequency magnetic fields around busbar trunking risers
2002 3rd International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2003Busbar systems are often employed as a riser for power distribution in large buildings. The magnetic fields around typical busbar trunking systems are evaluated in this paper via numerical and experimental investigation. Galvanized iron enclosure of the busbar trunking system is approximately modeled as a linear enclosure with a constant equivalent ...
