Fatigue prediction of high-strength bolts in wind turbines

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong
The flange plate and blade root hub of wind turbines are connected by high-strength bolts, and the collapse of most wind turbine towers is caused by the fatigue of the connecting bolts.

Effect of Temperature and Mineral Matter on the Formation of NOx Precursors during Fast Pyrolysis of 2,5-Diketopiperazine

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
2,5-diketopiperazine (DKP) was used as a N-containing model compound to investigate the formation pathway of NOx precursors (HCN, NH3, and HNCO) during biomass pyrolysis.

Progress in Catalytic Decomposition and Removal of N2O in Fluidized Bed

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
As a clean fuel combustion technology, the circulating fluidized bed (CFB) has been developed rapidly in recent years, but one of its disadvantages is high N2O emissions.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Risk Assessment of Offshore Wind–Solar–Current Energy Coupling Hydrogen Production Project Based on Hybrid Weighting Method and Aggregation Operator

open access: yesEnergies
Under the dual pressures of global climate change and energy structure transition, the offshore wind–solar–current energy coupling hydrogen production (OCWPHP) system has emerged as a promising integrated energy solution.

Early tube leak detection system for steam boiler at KEV power plant

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Tube leakage in boilers has been a major contribution to trips which eventually leads to power plant shut downs. Training of network and developing artificial neural network (ANN) models are essential in fault detection in critically large systems.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Modular and stackable power generators for efficient renewable power generation [PDF]

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, 2019
Stackable power generators enable very compact electric machines with high power density. How to identify an effective way of stacking is necessary and requires new knowledge for future guidance. In this study, both possibilities of stacking modules concentrically and axially are explored and compared.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).
