El Salvador plans geothermal power generation

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1971
A recently completed United Nations study has concluded that geothermal power represents a significant source of indigenous energy in El Salvador, which lies within the main volcanic belt of Central America. At present the principal source of electricity in El Salvador is hydropower, supplemented by imported fuel‐based thermal power.Due to the rapid ...

Creep‐Induced Microstructural Evolution in an A2‐B2 Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A 27.3Ta‐27.3Mo‐27.3Ti‐8Cr‐10Al (at.%) refractory high‐entropy alloy with precipitation‐strengthened A2‐B2 microstructure was studied by creep tests at 1030°C, which demonstrate a transition in deformation mechanisms in the range of 100–150 MPa applied stress. This is associated with changes in dislocation–precipitate interactions. Relevant deformation

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Reliability criteria in power generation expansion planning

open access: yes, 2018
The starting point of security of supply and generation expansion planning analysis of today's power systems are the policies which greatly defines the organization and business environment of power systems. One of the most important EU foundation policies is the organization of a common pan-European energy market, i.e. a common electricity market. The
