Thermoelectric interface materials for reliable power generation

Materials Today
High-performance thermoelectric (TE) devices offer great potential for power generation and solid-state cooling. However, their reliability and long-term stability are often constrained by the quality of interfaces between TE materials and electrodes.

The Economics of Alternative Levels of Reliability for Electric Power Generation Systems

The Bell Journal of Economics, 1975
Providing excess electrical generation capacity for reliability purposes has an economic cost; it is also true that higher reliability adds to the value of electric service. After some point, however, the additional benefits do not warrant the additional cost. In this paper we examine the considerations that should determine sensible reliability levels

Application of New Generation Reliability Importance Factors in Power Systems

IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies, 2019
Introduction of more and more intermittent power sources to the power systems may affect the power system reliability. The objective of the paper is to develop the reliability importance measures, which would identify which power plants contribute more and which less to the power system reliability. The loss of load expectation relative increase factor

Correlated Generator Failures and Power System Reliability

2019
This thesis contributes new knowledge toward understanding the relationship between capacity procurement and power system reliability through rigorous analysis of generator-level availability data. In Chapter 2 I analyze four years of data (2012-2015) from the Generating Availability Data System (GADS) database maintained by the North American Electric

Generation reliability modeling and analysis of wind power plants

2004
The reliability impact of wind generation is evaluated using a set of reliability modeling and analysis tools implemented with MATLAB. As expected, the addition of wind generation increases the reliability of a power system. However, the extent to which the reliability is increase varies with the wind farm's penetration level.

Power System Reliability Analysis with Distributed Generators

2014
Reliability is a key aspect of power system design and planning. In this research we present a reliability analysis algorithm for large scale, radially operated (with respect to substation), reconfigurable, electrical distribution systems. The algorithm takes into account equipment power handling constraints and converges in a matter of seconds on ...
