Harmonic resonant filters for power electronics
The European Physical Journal Applied Physics, 2007The object of this work is to report a passive filter structure dedicated for power applications. The structure is based on a series combination of elementary notch filters resonating at harmonic frequencies of a base frequency (switching frequency of a converter). A calculation of values of the components used for a given performance is presented.

A novel harmonic power filter system consisting of passive LC filters and voltage source pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) converters is described. This filter system has the merits of both conventional passive LC filters and conventional active power filters. The operating principle and a control scheme for the system are described.

Switching of power harmonic filters
Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2002Power harmonic filters are installed at the AC input terminals of rectifiers, motor drives, UPS, and other nonlinear loads to reduce the distortion of the terminal voltage at the point of connection. The design guide for these filters, such as IEEE Std. 519, assumes a fixed load condition, and does not focus on switching of the filters.
